It's amazing how we can unearth these unknown talents like, uh, the guy who was chased by Bayern Munich for months and is the current striker for the German national team.

You've unearthed the German national team? Are there other 'national' teams? Who knew!

I hadn’t seen these extended clips of our new boy when he scored a hatrick against Spain under 21s in March…Even more impressive once you’ve watched this.

I know it’s ‘unwise’ relying purely on Munchkin Wise style scouting, but I’d have signed him on those highlights alone.

That first goal showed everything you want from a striker. Drive, great movement, strength and an exquisite finish.
What happened with the second goal of though? Maybe it was so good they couldn’t bring themselves to record it!

Tbf Nick W has barely scored a Bundesliga goal prior to last season. Most of us early years of him in June or so.  He’s not a Cherki, Isak, Xavi Simons or Wirtz style wonderkid.

He really is a cult figure already and I've noticed he lends himself to a lot of nicknames in the whatsapp groups I'm in, just a selection I've seen:

Big Wolte

Das Big Cunt (DBC)

Woltey

Walter

BFG - Big Friendly German

Woltemorde

Big Nick Energy

Amongst others, I'm sure we'll see variations of these in the coming years.

Apparently one of the centre backs for Spain was the one Arsenal signed. So apparently not complete mugs he was facing either.

BFG was Mertsacker so we can avoid that.

This Liverpool love-in puff piece will have you retching a little.  Maybe Lahm might ask why Liverpool can comfortably overpay for 'sure thing' players rather than proclaim their supposed genius for doing so?

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/sep/12/florian-wirtz-liverpool-newcastle-nick-woltemade-gambling-philipp-lahm?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other

I'm sure if Newcastle had overpaid for Wirtz and Liverpool had got Woltemade instead we'd just hear about Liverpool's canny knack for opting for future stars etc.

Bag of shite.
