Will be a different beast if Tino and Hall are in the side, hard to get crosses into the box when everything feels compressed in the wide areas and players aren't getting to the byline. Burn did a good job getting forward for Joelintons goal and in fairness to him he is willing but is really just a decoy in those positions and one that the opposition aren't really convinced of. Trippier seems very reluctant to go into the final 3rd as I think he knows he doesn't have the legs to get back. Plus if Murphy or Elanga cut back inside onto their left their delivery has a good chance of hitting the first man and launching a counter or they'll play a risky square ball with the same result.

Think Barnes will prove a good foil for Woltemade, his off the ball running is probably his best strength. He made a great run across the defence in the first half but Woltemade didn't spot him.

Come on everybody it's Woltemade,

You know he's gonna get the ball from Ant Elanga,

Straight into the squad to be a first team starter

He's a bit like Isak but he's ten times harder

(repeat)

I’m afraid you over-estimate the intelligence of travelling fans

Surely if we're doing conga suggestions it's:

Come on it's Woltemade,

Shoot shoot shoot

Watch him always score!

(Repeat ad infinitum)

Edit: This has to be giggs surely? It feels too obvious [emoji38]

Done well for the goal

But if we havent got a striker who can run over the top he really needs to hold everything up when he comes that deep cos we just end up straight back in danger when he loses it...

I feel a bit sorry for him. As he only gets a touch every 5-10 minutes. But I feel like the league are already wising up to him. Getting very tight and physical and not giving him a second to get a touch.

His hold up needs to be better when it comes his way. We also need to try and play to his strengths and get him involved. We seem incapable of that most weeks.

He’s absolutely class, going to be perfect for us long term. Right now, he’s exhausted and working in a system that doesn’t suit him. Get more players in the team that know how to move and are more comfortable on the ball in the wings and full back positions and we’re absolutely made

Yep. Outside the box he needs to be either stronger to hold the ball up or quicker to react to the imperfect balls in and around him.

I think it depends how much we want to adapt and build the team around him. Difficult to go from a direct, vertical and counter attack side. Which is built on high energy, physicality and pace.

To trying to play with such a silky player. Who doesn’t really have any attributes to suit that style of play.

Worth adapting how we play and even recruiting players to suit IMO. He has the talent for it to be worthwhile.

Nah he’s not perfect for us.  We are suited to a very ‘vertical’ striker. He makes zero runs in behind and that’s a major way in which we are setup to attack.  Unless we change style he needs to change his game or his future here will be primarily as a second striker imo
