He's still a work on progress and will improve even more when the pressure is not all on him to produce every game.

One thing that really annoys me about him is how long he holds on the ball, too many times he has the chance to release it and ends up losing it because he's held on for too long.

It's something we are quite poor at as a team, we want an age on the ball, could also be a question of movement around the player in question.

Definitely think he'd look better with someone who can stretch defences and give him more space to work his magic

At the moment he's being asked to press but also come short and go long and he doesn't have the legs to do that

I said it during the summer - Isak or no Isak, we bought the wrong profile of RW - we needed a more technical left footed winger - good on the ball - can score and create - we bought Elanga who I see as similar to Murphy with a limited ability it seems to strike the ball from range - it’s hurt us massively I feel as a team - add to that the purchase of Ramsey and the non purchase of a full back, considering we lost Kelly and Targett - 3 big errors for me - all have hurt us a various points this season.

Would have been less expensive as well.

Summer transfers has really hurt us.  Woltemade and Thiaw are the only bright sparks.  Nobody else has come close to giving us what we need so far.   And we’ve spent a lot of money for players intended to make an immediate impact.

Wissa's been injured all season, I think Ramsey was always intended as an opportunist move for a different profile of player to add to our options.

Only Elanga has been a bad signing at the moment.

I don’t think that is good enough.  Our business was intended for immediate results. We haven’t signed any teenagers or 21 year olds.  Woltemade aside everyone we’ve signed has over 100 PL appearances and that was a major factor in their signing and fees because they were meant to keep us high in the league this season. Signing 19 yo Lewis Hall was always going to be dubious short term but with long term high upside.

We signed Wissa for immediate impact. Through no real fault of his own he’s offered zero. But his lack of contribution is a fairly big reason why we are bottom half in the league.  He’s meant to have scored 4-8 goals by now.

You can check my posts. I’ve been screaming for a CM that can compete or replace Joelinton. That was meant to be Ramsey. He’s behind Miley and Willock.  So far it’s been poor. I liked him before he came but he looks so small for us.   He’s not as powerful a runner as I was expecting and is very safe on the ball. At the moment I don’t know what he’s meant to be for us. He’s not that much cheaper than Tonali.

IMO we went for a short terminate transfer but didn’t reap any of the benefits. I wanted a Xhaka like signing. Cheap fee maybe good wages. Hits the ground running.

As such I don’t have high expectations of the season. We need to get back to a proper recruitment team and go from there. The Livramento x Tonali approach.

Thiaw is a glaring admission here.

unless I misunderstood and you're talking specifically about attacking players.

Nevermind.

I mentioned him before.

I said it a lot. This new CL format is gruelling.  Unless the squad is deep and quality we’ll struggle to get into Europe. That Villa squad and the 66 points was impressive and we needed a squad the level they ended with to get 65-68 points to get us back into the CL.
This squad will do well to get 63 points and a conference league spot unless we go and get reinforcements.

extensive Interview in a big German news magazine (1€ paywall).

Nick says he delibaretly chose NU over Bayern to compete in the best league in the world and that he felt right at home from the beginning.
Furthermore, he is not content with his game, says that in many games he is involved too little but thats because the the team had so few training sessions together and the others are used to playing with a completely different type of rodent uh striker.
