Embarrassing how bad he is at heading the ball

It’s funny because he started off quite well on that front at the start of the season

It also left us wide open in the midfield and we were lucky not to concede more…

The midfield is always wide open.

They just go about charging people down or sprinting forward and no one protects or covers the defence.

Must have been diagnosed with brittle bone syndrome.  Shits himself at the thought of making any kind of contact with the ball

That is also true, but it can always get worse [emoji38]

It's difficult to understand tbh. Just ridiculous at this point.

I’m trying to remember how it worked so well before. The personnel are still here, Joelinton didn’t play every game in previous seasons and it’s not as if Isak pressed much either. Yet the whole identity of the team has gone.

And completely separate to all of the above is an altogether different problem that Woltemade is the exact opposite type of player that would ever fit into this sort of system.

Take a fucking shot Nick man.

Also, give him the ball to feet when he's the only one who'll show for it when surrounded by 3 or 4.

And when he's on the ball, don't run towards him and kill his space.

We're pressing less and less. At home against Brentford today who aren't that great with the ball, and we didn't pressure them.

Woltemade is getting it played into his feet even less than when he first joined and no longer lays it off quickly like he did then either.

It's beyond me why the team is not only struggling to improve, but also going further away from the things that worked well before.

I really like him but he was doing my tits in today. Just refuses to shoot, utterly baffling. His confidence seems to deteriorate with every minute he plays at the moment.

Certainly been playing like Crouch ever since he met him.

If he bulks up he'll barely be able to move.

If Bayern are interested in summer I'd bin him off truthfully.

Change in shape got him into some great spaces. Has taken too long to try this setup.

Far more likely to get more out of him in those positions if persisted with.

Should really continue with it going forward, but I doubt we will.

The disappointing thing is he showed zero class when he got in those great positions.

His confidence is gone.

He's definitely not confident. He's always looking for the lay off or the flick on.

Some tidy footwork in the middle of the park, but his aversion to shooting is starting to be worrisome given the position he plays.

I’d sell him for £60m. Either that or we need to completely remodel the team to actualy play to his strengths. It’s pointless otherwise

The good thing is, he seems to play mostly in midfield, and it looks like he's got better touch and control than most of our midfielders.

He needs some confidence, not sure how we get it to him tbh.

Maybe give him a run of starts where he knows he’s going to play like he had when he was actually scoring goals earlier in the season, but there’s so many games and the games are so hard that it might do more harm than good.

Ever since Wissa has come back he has mostly struggled, thought with Wissa back we would see an improved Woltemade with the workload easing up, hasn't quite transpired and Wissa has been poor

I'd go back to the start of the season, have Woltemade as the starter and Wissa can come on when he's tired, this chopping and chaning is not working for anyone

No-one is paying £60m for him tbf.  We wouldn’t get our money back.  Though we’d only need £50m next season for it to be ‘cost neutral’ in terms of fee amortisation
