Has he hit a remotely hard shot yet ,I can't think of one

The penalty he scored when he took one.

Gutted for the lad not starting today. The season is as good as over for us, why aren't we trying something new? I have a gut feeling Eddie will leave this summer and this lad will thrive under the new manager.

I don't really know what it is about this lad but I really like him and I'm desperate for him to be a success here.

For me its because the clear natural ability Woltemade has demonstrated early on.  Either what you said happens or Eddie stays and Woltemade thrives with a different club next year

This year was unfortunately a demonstration of Eddie's inability to work a solution for him in the way Eddie himself wanted - because that's a big money signing and Eddie needed to, whether he likes it or not

Best solution would be it works for them both out next season here - but somehow feels like this is the least likely outcome

Yeah, we've all seen something in Woltemade, we know that there's an abundance of talent there but we also know that he's very rough around the edges. It's quite damning on Howe that Wolte hasn't improved at all and has in fact regressed and then been cast aside, I thought Howe would make something special out of him.

I really thought with 3 weeks of rest, Eddie would be working a way to find something to make him tick in his tactics.

Ends up he is on the bench.

So wtf. As well he just ask his agent to find a new club in the summer.

He's shown what he's capable of but Osula still gets the nod. I can't work Howe out, I reckon he's offski in the summer. Get the Bournemouth manager in, he's done wonders with a much smaller club than Newcastle so deserves a chance at a bigger club. Has an eye for a player too.

I still love ya Nick.

Feel bad for him tbh. He basically kept our heads above water for the first part of the season with some key goals, had a bit of a dry spell and now isn't really considered for a striking spot despite us probably having little to play for.

Well, at least no one can make Nick the scapegoat here. He's hardly playing anymore.

He'll also lose his place in the national team's attack. Without sufficient playing time at his club, he'll just be sitting on the bench.

I don't understand how a player who performed brilliantly for Stuttgart in the first half of 2025, was the best player of the tournament at the U21 World Cup, and shined during his first three months at TOON, can decline so drastically. I largely blame Eddie for this. I don't know what he wanted to turn Nick into. False 9, 10, defensive midfielder?

In any case, Woltemade's form has been completely ruined. And instead of using him as a center forward again at the end of a disastrous season, he's left on the bench. Disgusting!

It was another of those games where half our attacks were crosses into the box, begging for someone like Wolte to be in there to get on the end of them.  Of course, we stopped doing that once he came on.

He was getting ready to come on around the hour, we equalised, then got told to sit down. Then was brought on with 5 minutes to go of normal time immediately after we went behind. Hilarious at this point.

My take on Woltemade so far this season.

When he first got here, I didn’t really think he fit the system. I think Osula is more in the mould of Isak/Wilson and Nick is just something completely different.

Still, I remained positive, and he had a good start, but I just think after 8 weeks of getting manhandled, kicked and thrown without getting any free kicks, he just broke/gave up.

Still the first season in the PL though, so things could change, but I just think he’s a little too slow for the league. He’s got the technique, but he just looks a little too slow for everything.

Can only think that the club will try to shift him (and Wissa) on at the end of the season.  Mind, he's not had a fair crack of the whip of recent.

There's a quality player there - suspect that will be proven when he moves on from here.

For all I think he should have started I can sort of see why Osula stayed on after scoring.

I just think it’s insane given how poorly we’re playing not having the only forward capable of creativity not starting.

I still think there’s a berbatov type striker there - he’s got a great touch - if we can refine his attacking play more im confidant he could be a handful.

That being said - is he a 15-20 goal a season type striker? No. And the scouts seemed to agree on that. Out of him an Wissa - then I’m getting rid of Wissa tomorrow - this year he’s been a gold plated Rivière

He’s not near Berbatov’s level

Saw some glimpses of him playing centrally as a second striker just off Osula today when he came on, and it looked like it could have some potential if persisted with. It's pretty much the ideal position you'd want to have him playing in the Prem I think.

We are now in April, and I think it's ridiculous we haven't seen more of this setup to try something different, considering how poorly the team has played the majority of the season. Especially when you consider that Howe has used this kind of setup previously at Bournemouth, when he would play King off of Wilson in a two striker system.

At this point why not just play that way the rest of the season? Be surprised if we do though.

I would be able to get on board with Howe staying on if we were seeing something different. Trying to make it work, rather than persisting with what has failed all season.

Read that he played 2nd striker with Dennis Undav at Stuttgart where he thrived.

Yes, he mostly played with another striker.

In the under 21s Euros, he was usually paired with Tresoldi or Weiper too if I remember correctly.

Thought he looked decent, try him with Osula for the rest of the season.

I said before the game I wouldn't mind seeing him playing as number 10 behind Wissa in a 4-4-2. I know Wissa is supposed to be eating pies and on strike or something, but doubling down on the same stuff we've been doing all season doesn't seem to be working that well anyway.
