Benwell Lad
Deserve it's own thread? They're definitely back in vogue and with Woltemade, Burn and Joelinton in the box they could be significant and impact on our season. Came so close from one yesterday and Brentford equalised from a near replica of ours. Oh and even Liverpool used them against us despite what snooty Slot said. JT24
I don’t think it does deserve its own thread, personally.
Mazzy
Is Tino the only one capable? Guess we've not seen Hall/Thiaw/Ramsey this season enough to know if they are.
OpenC
Next someone will realise that nobody can remember how to defend against 442 and that'll be back as well. I have no issues with anyone using the long throw, totally legit and can be as dangerous and more consistent than corners (and can fuck with defending players' minds for exactly that reason, not knowing whether to put it out for a throw or a corner or try to keep it in). It'll be countered by teams doing what the mackems did and moving the advertising hoardings in of course Edited September 14, 2025 by OpenC

1881
All for it. Nobody would want to go back to eighties Basset-ball but the modern game has gone too far the other way. Let’s have a bit of disruptive chaos re-introduced. And while we’re at it, let’s get Steve Watson back to teach his somersault throw!

The proposed/alleged clampdown on wrestling at set pieces maybe makes teams more likely to use them. Will definitely lead to penaties if scrutinised.
