We dont have anyone that can actually take decent corners or free kicks in the first place, Trippier has declined and Tonali is ok but how many times do our corners get caught by keeper or cleared by defender

I think this is the case with most set pieces for most teams. They're pretty low probability set pieces (corners and indirect free kicks).

Most games have 5-10+ corners and it's not like every game has a goal scored or even a decent chance from them.

Short corners are widely disliked by fans who think the ball should be lumped into the box at any opportunity, and there is actually a little difference between the two. Only 32.6% of short corners led to a shot from that passage of play, and only 3.3% led to a goal. Both figures rise – to 38.5% and 4.1%, respectively – when looking at crossed corners. It isn’t much difference, but it is a difference, and the reason so many managers are focusing more on set-pieces these days is because they want to make any opportunity count when their team is close to goal.

From the 22/23 season. We've done quite a few of the short ones. Any reason as to why teams still try short corners, even when the stats are against it? They have never looked good to me. I understand some of the theoretical appeal behind it, I just think it doesn't work well in practice.

Maybe different seasons shows different stats.

Not sure what's different other than the kick off routine since John John or whatever he's called joined.

I thought Arsenal and Forest weren't as awful as the games before tbh. Granted the bar is literally on the floor here, but at least we managed some attempts on goal from them

I can't remember individual set pieces from the games but my overall feeling is still very 'meh' whenever we win a corner.

The amount of time the ball ends up on the edge of the box from a corner, but we have nee one waiting to whack it in for us, infuriates me to no end. Fair enough, we do out cover a bit far back but I wish we can leave someone on the edge to smack one in.

Thiaw 1,94m

Burn 1,98m

Wolte 1,99m

Botman 1,93m

Joelinton 1,86m

It doesn't mean everything, but we sure do have the height in our starting lineup. The general trend from the league has been an increase in % of goals from corners in the last years, but I suspect that our scoring rate from corners must have been bottom half in the league.

Under Rafa and even Steve Bruce we scored loads on corners.

It might be the only thing that we have regressed in since the takeover.
