Not expecting much here

Suds, Eddie's nephew and now some bloke who has made clubs worse?

Better than nowt is not an executive recruitment strategy

Might as well have gone got the lad who's leaving Sunderland

Eddie wielding too much power? No checks and balances? Recipe for it to blow up in the club's face

That's the spirit. 💪

"My conversations with ownership have been extremely positive, and I've also been in regular contact with Eddie Howe and David Hopkinson. The trust, cohesion and alignment we're building already feels strong, and we believe that being united as a team will be so important as we continue to move the club forward together.

"I'm excited to work with everyone across the different areas within our football department. There's already excellent work being done here and, from the first team to the women's team and academy, my aim is to build on that, strengthen our structures over time, and work with our staff to create environments where players and staff can continue to thrive."

David Hopkinson, Newcastle United's CEO, said: "I am delighted to welcome Ross to Newcastle United. His experience and expertise immediately strengthen us, and his appointment is another important step forward in our journey.

"Ross has a track record of delivering strategic change. He has instilled processes and built relationships that have helped his clubs to win and grow, and he has demonstrated his ability to enhance talent pathways and integrate women's football into the same high-performing culture.

"We are looking forward to working with him as we build towards our ambitions for long-term sustainable success."

Gotta give some credit / thanks to Forest for not requesting something like gardening leave

Would be interesting to know what happened behind the scenes of this - every man and his dog have known about this for what... 4 months now?

Wonder if there was an agreement with Forest that he finished off the window just been and laid some ground work for the next one.  Either that or else they were just haggling over compensation but unlike Ashworth was professional enough to keep on with the present job.

Good luck to him. In our position with levels of achievement required from the ownership to grow the club as quickly as possible whilst under PSR stranglehold and what seems at times a very uneducated and impatient fanbase it’s got to be one of the hardest jobs in the league.

Like some of said on here needs to be long term in any hope of seeing the fruits of his labour.

Training ground announcement next then ground in the coming months hopefully 🤞🏻
