, then take maximum pleasure from exiting the ground early with some vigorous handshakes and a chorus of “see you next time”.

This also does my tits in. It's not just the folk next to them. It can be rows below them. Rows next to them. Rows below them.

By the time they've finished they've actually ended up staying for the full 90 minutes

Same types when I had my ST were there. Shake hands on way in, say nothing other than pleasantries, shake hands again before leaving early. Just get out if you’re leaving early!

The fact were  2 pts better off than this stage last season and only  3 off 4th is astonishing....  fact we beat them and go above them is massive... fact we've been shite every game bar the city won but still only 3 pts off 4th is even more mental

Strange game. Thought we were shite for the most part but to win barely getting out of second gear isn’t a bad thing at this stage of the season. Gordon looking good again a positive, don’t think anyone else was particularly brilliant albeit none abject.

Two yuge games coming up, howay the lads.

Was pleased at Dubravka being given his flowers by the fans. Those players through the Championship, Benitez days in the PL, Bruce those other dark days I’ll always have a soft spot for.

Agree with you, we started poorly and could barely string 2 passes together. Elanga was particularly poor but even Tino was quite sloppy. We got better as it went on which I suppose makes sense when you think there were a lot of new relationships being built on the fly. The Bruno goal was obviously great and settled everyone down a bit. Gordon’s pass for the red card was lovely and the penalty basically ended it as a contest.

Every time they attacked they got a corner, if you looked at the stats you’d think we had been under immense pressure but it was just one of those games where every interception/tackle went behind. I feel like everyone knew it was the third priority of this week, we played a team just about capable of winning it and we got through unscathed for the next one.

A lot of work to be done but when you play every few days with minimal training time I don’t know what else to expect. As the Discman said, nobody was abject, Gordon was very good, I will not remember this match in a month

This is the thing for me, aye it felt comfortable (until the end) but in the second half, we were beat off 10 man Burnley at home.

Happy with the points? Absolutely.  Frustrated and worried about the glaring and recurring problems we seem to bring on ourselves? Abso-fuckin-lutely.

Rotation or not it wasn't great.

I can think of many, many times when a full team have struggled against 10 men. It's a strange phenomenon that sometimes happens.

Couldn't watch the game today.

Maybe makes it easier to feel like three points is three points ahead of two big games, and that we didn't have to field our starting XI (whatever that is).

Exactly and they played as such albeit I’d prefer if we didn’t approach games like that.

You didn’t miss much and yeah I’m perhaps clutching a bit but when the games come thick and fast results > performances for me.

Its one of them where you say it Burnley were someone else we’d have been a goal down early but we wouldn’t have started like that so it’s a bit of a moot point.

He'll remember that the rest of his days. What a lucky lad having that Bruno goal as part of his first game. Think there's only been something like 20 goals direct from a corner in the premier League.

I was 11 for my first game and still remember it. A glorious day of wonder as Dunfermline beat Greenock Morton by 4 goals to 1 at East End Park. It wasn't long after that we appeared on the BBC show Pebble Mill with some Eastenders cast singing our new song to the tune of Eastenders .

"We're the team they call The Pars"

Can't remember the rest of the lyrics. It's on YouTube though if anyone wants a laugh.

Cant manage games out, even when comfortable prior, the mentality or something just doesn't help and offers encouragement to the opponent which brings them too close.

Get a pass because of the amount of games at the moment.

Was a nothing game really, just about management for most of it. Imagine a lot of the games today were similar excerises from the looks of things. Imagine even the losing teams were in conservation mode for a chunk of today.

Scott Parker on MOTD said that Burnley played the best that they have done all year.

This seems to becoming a recurring theme.  Many of the lesser teams play particularly well against us.  It needs sorting out.

That doesn’t stack up though, our last loss to a newly promoted side was Luton. We always put them away. It’s the mid ranking teams we struggle with.

Fall over the line against ten men, relegation certainties Burnley after leading two nil and that thick bastard plays Freed From Desire. Cringeworthy as fuck. It’s like supporting a non league club the shite songs they play.

I know some won’t care but it makes us look tinpot as fuck.

West Ham played their best game against us, Leeds played well against us, Fulham played well against us as did Brentford and Bournemouth.  All of whom are struggling to pick up points this season - but they play well against us.

Took my boy to the game for the first time.

He absolutely loved it. In awe of watching his heros in the flesh. It was quite moving really.

Fairly poor game, but we were fully in control from 1-0 and out. Not sure why we decided to make it interesting mind.

What a fantastic experience for us both and I can’t really put into words what a fantastic people Geordies are. Thank you.

Delighted you and your son enjoyed the game.

Your boys first game will live long in his memory.

Brilliant that we managed to win the game for his first game. O0

Leeds just beat Chelsea, nearly drew with City and drew with Liverpool.

Fulham haven’t been hammered all season and have just beat Mackems and Spurs then put four past City (albeit in a loss).

Bournemouth had a 8 game streak of not losing and just did drew with Chelsea.

Brentford are three points behind us and have beat Villa, Man U and Liverpool.

It’s a funny old season and there is no easy games in the PL. Especially when you are trying to keep your squad rotated.

We’re ahead of we’re we were last season points wise, we aren’t adrift and almost have a full squad back. People need to stop acting like this season has been terrible

We were shite as recently as midweek

against Spurs and last weekend against Everton?

What is the link with Free From Desire anyway? We don’t have a chant to that tune to my knowledge.

Onedek is excruciating.

I assumed an attempt to shoehorn us towards "Wissa's on fire" but honestly who knows with him

It does happen and that's through a collective understanding that greater output is required and perhaps the anger/disappointment around the decision/other teams antics but I always feel the 11 man side should manage that intelligently and ultimately defeat the 10 man side. We effectively lost 1-0 to it.

We were woeful yesterday imo but as others have said, we won with a rotated and perhaps uncohesive side. We will need wins like this if we are to progress as a club on all platforms.
