One walk around your corporate areas tells me it’s not. Last time I was there it was blown up pictures of derby goals and one of the 73 cup win.

True. I was there for girl 2s graduation and the amount of Derby day stuff was cringey.

Edit..... but then again, what else have they got?

When I was there they had a photo of Sorensen saving Shearer's penalty signed by John Humble.

Follow The Mackems

You do know "Mackem" is an insult ? Its a piss take out of the accent. Back in the 70s you wouldn't call a Sunderland fan a Mackem if you thought he could chin ya.

Haha, I used to call a lad I worked with back in the 80's Mac as he was from Sun'lun, after a while everyone called him it - even though his name was Ian (or something) - he used to get really angry about it and even reported me to the boss, who was from Cramlington and consequently didn't give a shit!  :D

Willock? WTF.

He's been one of our best players the last couple of times he's played. Not sure how that would translate in a derby, but was just saying on form, him, Miley and Bruno have been better than both Tonali and Joelinton.

It just sums up your club's mentality. They'd sooner that, than say the Defoe volley. Small time as fuck.

It's a club that names things after, and I think voted as their greatest ever player, a centre half who was essentially a clogger. Someone similar to what John McNamee was for us.

Weird really, as just a little later they had defenders in Colin Todd and Dave Watson who were really classy players.

But that's what they are. They have always preferred cloggers. Baally, Cattermole and don't laugh... O'Nien  in more recent years.

Strange that any football club would promote the dirty side of the game over skill, but based on what I've seen recently it still manifests itself in the team they have right now.

We aren’t playing Willock over Tonali. It would be suicide for Howe if we lost

We know he isn't but that's not the point being made.

Think the only changes from Wednesday night will be:

Miley for Joelinton (unless he's fit)

Pope (if fit) for Ramsdale

Murphy for Barnes

Clearly a large section of their fanbase would take a defeat as long as it was coupled with a couple of serious injuries to our key players!

Didn't they once have a thread where some of them said Shearer being stretchered off at the SoL was their favourite moment in football ?

Yep, I'm not saying we should be picking Willock over Tonali, just pointing out who are the midfielders actually performing currently. We'll go with Tonali, but this is the derby, and all our midfielders need to be on it. We can't afford to be carrying people who don't fancy it, or are half fit on the day.

After he'd just scored and as part of a 4-1 defeat to the team they hate the most in the world, sums them up!

I work with a Mackem who is generally speaking a proper sound bloke, however this week he has constantly gone on about wishing for a couple of our players to do their ACL

Deep down they are absolutely unhinged
