They changed the rules.  Obviously to suit the big 6

I had no idea about this and I am sure it has been done to death in this forum already but a player playing for two teams in the same domestic cup competition within the same season is utter nonsense.

Should he be banned from playing in the PL for the rest of the season as well?

Not the point been cup tied has always been the rule.

To now change it for no real reason it seems makes no sense.

Bernardo Silva is always allowed 2 or 3 clear yellow card offences before eventually getting booked in games. Really frustrating

Can't stand him - told Trafford not to pass the ball to delay play

I've yet to see any explanation as to why the rule was changed

it will primarily benefit the clubs who can usually spend big in January so guessing it was at the request of the cartel clubs

His performances were consistently low on xO … expected orgasms.  Cum spittle grumpy fecker that he is.

Hopefully Eddie can work on getting him into better positions.

A league season is an endurance event and the January transfer window (broadly in the middle of the season) provides all teams with an opportunity to refresh their squad, with the likelihood that any reinforcements or sales broadly equally impact all other teams in a similar way.

A cup competition, by definition, is designed to be high stakes. If you lose, you lose. Unlike the league, there are no opportunities to rebound. Once a team (and the players of that team) exits the competition, there should no longer be an opportunity to compete within that same  competition.

Id heard about @Heron‘s legendary voice. I’d been in the corner a few times but not seen him directly. Today when one of the Eddie Howe BW army chants died down to just a few people, I looked to the back and pretty sure it was heron I could see leaving.

that VAR was a joke. Not seen it and benefitted us but don’t care, it’s bollocks

not too bad but lacked that something extra you need to beat a team of their quality. Missed Isak tonight.Bit concerned about Wissa, hopefully just lacks sharpness

Was there til the end and beyond mate. I assume you mean leading? The lads deserved every ounce of our support second half. If we cannot do it now when can we? Expectancy now outweighs reality. A lot of these young men have been mountains representing Newcastle upon Tyne. We must shower them with our encouragement so they understand how appreciated that is.

Our home not theirs. But it can be.

I tell ya what - I will celebrate when Pep finally leaves City - such an arrogant / self righteous manager. Complaining about VAR and saying decisions always go our way.  Get lost man - your legacy is built on cheating - 115 charges mate.

Yes leading not leaving!

Was one of those where it was hard to tell how atmosphere really, cos I was in the corner, thought it was pretty good tho not like some of the great nights. Did my best to keep the Eddie Howe Black n White Army going down in the lower part too, though couldn’t match the top. Big fan of that as a chant, great to have one that can go on ages

Absolutely mate. We need more like that. EHBAWA can forward tiresome. Was quite pleased with the resilience in that corner today tbh. That many games - especially end to end games - in that many days has been tiresome burlt if we feel that God knows how the lads feel. Honestly so proud of our lot. I am irritated and wish we'd have got a better result but we have to applaud the efforts of this bunch. Represent us with all their heart.

We've never had the squad to compete on 4 fronts. Fair play to the lads, they dug deep especially with the insanely long games back-to-back in the last week.

We were bit naive to concede the 2nd, but doesn't change an awful lot. Fuck it off, focus on the rest.

which is all the more infuriating considering how much we spent over the summer.

No but the reason for a transfer deadline was to stop clubs from buying players so deep into a league season that it directly effects outcomes and integrity - the opposite of buying a player with two games of a competition remaining like we have here.

This is why we needed to be the best in the league at finding value and strengthening the squad and U-21s in the most efficient way, taking attitude and prem attributes into account. Ramsey and Elanga for 100mil isn’t it, Guehi for 60 was shocking. Thiaw was available then. Another season where mid table clubs have signed players well good enough for our 11 or to strengthen our bench.
