Tottenham Hotspur vs. Newcastle United: 10/2/26 @ 19:30 (TNT Sport)

Recommended Posts

Get Thiaw in at rightback, Burn and Bortman centre backs and Hall at left back.  Play the way we used to do when Burn was at left back and Trippier was good, but with attacking focus from the left rather than the right.

It just has a lot of the hallmarks of a big team going down. The injuries are genuinely insane. Kulu and Maddison may miss the entire season and Bentancur and Davies almost certainly won’t be back. Danso did an injury I’ve never even heard of before in an innocuous way against Frankfurt, and apparently may not play again this season. Bergvall is out until April at least, as is Kudus.

I looked at the injury table and we have at least twice the amount of injuries as every single team except Chelsea and Man City (and nearly twice as many as them anyway). Then you zoom in and their return dates are mainly 8-13th Feb I.e. this week. We’ve got several key players missing for months at a time. It’s just not sustainable.

Aye, I understand, and I get the negativity to a point. But I was looking at your potential 11 for Tuesday, and it’s still fairly high quality (can’t say I’ve seen the Brazilian LB kid before).

Alright if that same 11 ends up having to go game after game, it’ll catch up with you. But you’ll get a couple of wins along the way.

Bloody hell, we're playing tomorrow  relentless schedule.

I think we need to go all out to win this to stop the relative rot.

Drop Wissa and tell Woltemade, if he doesn't get 5 shots on target, he's getting fucked off to Stoke on loan to bulk up.

Give Willock PEDs again like he had at PSG and start him with Bruno and Miley (if fit). Gordon can stay out the squad and nurse his fake hamstring injury.

Pope

Thiaw
Burn
Botman
Hall

Miley
Bruno
Willock

Barnes LW
Woltemade

Murphy RW

How the fuck are we 5/4 (11/8 available) favourites to beat Spurs away from home on Tuesday ?

Thats not right man

Spurs have the 17th worst home form this season in the league, picking up 10 points from 12 home games.

We have the 16th worst away form this season in the league, picking up 10 points from 12 away games.

It could go either way.

Really? That feels incredibly pessimistic.

You probably need what, 7 or 8 more points from the remaining 39. You’ll get that no bother.

I know it’s hard to see clearly when your team is in a bad run, especially when you seem to lose another player every game, but there’s very, very little chance of you going down.

edit - obviously I hope you’re even more convinced of it come Tuesday night…

Yeah it’s possible. Team might be:

Vicario

Palhinha-Dragusin-Van de Ven

Gray-Gallagher-Sarr-Souza

Odobert-Solanke-Simons

On paper it’s pretty good but then you look at the details. Palhinha out of position, Dragusin just back after a year out, Van de Ven recovering from an injury. Gray out of position, Gallagher new, Sarr was ill and barely played in AFCON, Souza completely new. Solanke just back after months out.

The subs? No defenders available - they’re all injured or Romero. No midfielders available - they’re all injured. Kolo Muani on loan and disinterested. I like Tel but he’s learning the ropes. That’s it. We’ve been bringing Byfield on (17yo) because there’s nobody else, the rest will be kids.

Rinse and repeat. You want to ease Solanke, Dragusin, Sarr and Van de Ven back in but they have to play every game because they’re all that’s left. You want to introduce Souza gradually but he’ll have to play every game because he’s all that’s left. We have three fit defenders and four fit midfielders…so that’s the team. Until one of them gets - inevitably - injured.

I fear that I am seeing it clearly because it’s every week at this point. We’re capable of being good and have been in patches but you don’t even need a red card or letting in a goal for things to crumble. One more player gets injured and we’re giving another teenager a debut…in this situation. That’s a problem.

with all of their injuries we have no excuses.

I’d agree but since the start of 2025 we’ve won 5 away league games, 2 of those coming against clubs now in the Championship, the other 3 coming against Burnley, Everton and West Ham.

Perfect chance to change that, I think we will.

That is a really atrocious statistic.

Although, Spurs are as garbage as some of those teams listed so we might be okay here

The two of the weakest mentality teams going against each other then

Having a glance through their home results, and whilst overall it’s nowhere near good enough, I don’t think they’ve lost there by more than one goal this season.

Normally I think there are signs in the previous season of one of the big guns dropping through the trap door. You were 17th last season and you haven’t had the turn around of Man Utd, for instance (15th on same points as Wolves). That said you were still 13 points above 18th. I just can’t see you being relegated.

The obvious difference is that last year there were three very clear relegation teams. Man U spent a shit-ton of money and don’t have Europe, which has helped massively. They have a grand total of three injuries, two of who are expected back in a couple of weeks.

We’ll see. I’ll be fairly happy with anything at all from these next two games and more importantly no more injuries.

Reckon Frank will get peddled in the summer?

I was sure that this game was on the weekend! What an insane schedule we have.

I think this will be a poor game, kind of like the Spurs Vs Scum United shit-off that was the UEFA final last season, but we will squeak it due to just having a few more non injured bodies.
