It's just a bit of banter and Shearer is still heavily involved in football and still has pop shots at us whenever he can so it's still relevant. It does sting mind. I remember after winning the treble thinking, "the only thing that would have made this better is if we had Shearer instead of Sheringham."
TBG
Shearer didn't make the move but Rosenthal did, you'll never sing that.

We were rivals at the time and the banter has just continued on through the years. Shearer takes it in good spirit. We don't sing it unless we're playing you or unless Shearer is at Old Trafford as a pundit.

Superior Acuña
Googled who invented stepovers in football, and on the stepover wiki page. It's only two paragraphs long and yet features Glenn Roeder Quote It was later also used in Italy by Amedeo Biavati in the 1930s[4] and was used by former Newcastle United player Glenn Roeder in the 1980s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Step_over

It was one of the first skill you learned back then and provided you did it quick it was almost impossible to defend especially in the middle when you go either way... Ah man loved it
