don’t think we were naive. We had full control of the second half and it was right to go for a second imo, it’s what we have done in previous seasons to great success.

We just give cheap goals away with basic errors. Been doing it all season.

Totally wrong to go for the second. See the game out, go to Camp Nou, stay tight and hit them on the break as they push for equaliser.

Wonder what the extra 20seconds were for

I was telling my kid when Barnes was walking off there was going to be at least an extra 30.

It’s not bad luck if it keeps happening

It was really stupid not to be able to see that out when they were all but done.

Thiaw was mint all game, no beef with him, we let them come into us.

We had the four minutes though.

Absolutely, he never should have been one on one with an on-rushing Olmo. We lost our composure, treated the ball like a hot potato, a few players slid on their arse - and that was that.

The amount of times we've shot ourselves in the foot this season is insane.

Last minute goals have cost us numerous times this year.  These are the 90+ goals we have conceded off the top of my head.  All at home too.

Liverpool -1

Arsenal -1

Spurs -2

Barcelona

No composure or game management again, we used to be able to see out games, don’t understand why it hasn’t been fixed, given Eddie was the coach an we still have Trips

Gordon man, just pass it to Willock and we win the game.

I genuinely couldn't believe he tried to switch it to the other side to Tonali.

It's so typical of most of the team though. Terrible decision making so often.

Feels like that PSG game again. :tickedoff:

Annoying that we can't just see a game out, even with minutes left.

Also it will go a bit unnoticed but I think having Ramsdale back there was huge today. Allowed us to slow the game down and pass with confidence along the back and take the sting out of the tempo at times beautifully.

Yeah the old pardew quote about the crowd roaring them on instead of putting your foot on the ball and seeing the game out.

Yep, just stupid by Gordon at the end - for all of his ‘elite mentality’ pish, that was daft

There is going for a second and then there's going gung-ho. No need to empty the pitch like we did. So immature of us man

we are not likely to get a Barcelona performance as poor as that at their place. The opportunity was there tonight to take a 2 goal lead there and we were right to go for it.

There’s no mitigating for dumb individual errors like that. We’re as likely to make those mistakes if we sit back as we are if we go for a second this season. The approach wasn’t the issue.

We should still have been able to keep them out with the whistle about to go.

Yea, and now that I think about it. Barnes sub was 90' so that is why it was 30 seconds extra.

But we should have played that better. And earlier already Gordon tried to put Tonali, who has been running 92 minutes, through on goal.. Wtf man.

We're so, so fucking naive. Top teams would never allow that.

For the top teams the ref probably would have blown the whistle when the time was up rather than allowing a full spell of possession from the back.

Agreed. There were a couple of times Burn and Malik had to think twice about passing back then realised it was Ramsdale
