Honestly at this point I went into it just hoping to find a team still interested in finishing the season well.

Clearly there's nothing tangible left to fight for but you can't underestimate the power of vibes. If we finish the season in a way that's better than utterly toxic then we've got a fighting chance of just drawing a line under it and trying to forget it ever happened. If we finish it with two or three wins then the whole mood changes.

There was no lack of effort, but it felt like a little person fighting a giant with a hand outstretched on their forehead from minute one. It’s mad how far we’ve fallen.

Better than expected performance whilst at the same time not exactly encouraging as you'd like to used their nerves and lacklustreness better.

Another defeat whilst everyone that can catch us won.

Feel like the style of football that's en vogue is honestly Allardyce/Pulis hyper-focused percentage stuff but with better players. PSG stick out like a sore thumb in Europe. Hopefully this era ends soon with a new style that overrides it.

Bayern are canny too and breaking scoring records but as a whole football is in a grim place now.

Tell you what we might be the worst team in the league at the moment. But what's really amazing is that Arsenal aren't far behind.

The quality of 'football' I've seen this season in the PL has on the whole been absolutely atrocious. I actually think the top level of the game might be at an all time low in terms of entertainment value and quality of player across the board, which is all the more amazing when you think that the level of interest is undoubtedly at its highest ever.

Too much system and possession based football, players being drilled in this kind of play in "academies" from an early age, the game is more like chess than it's ever been. Less imagination and flair than ever before. Old man rant over.

I'm not seeing what people say there mind. We were playing an Arsenal side absolutely shitting their keks and we couldn't even work an angle for a cross or pass of note.

Aye, I’m struggling to see what was so encouraging there. Brighton are playing much better than Arsenal atm and they’re up next.

It can't just be the style of play though although that's absolutely part of it. There's so few players I actually want to watch.

Kvicha is the man. Pretty much the only player around at the moment I'd actively rearrange plans to watch play. He's still playing 2010's football and it's glorious.

The best we have played for a while and Bruno is back, the drop off on our ability to pass a ball is massive which could be seen when he was subbed off.

Wolfie looked good in his brief time on the pitch with the pass of the game.

We need to start a game with him just behind big Will and Bruno behind him, between them we will create plenty of chances.

Pope is still a liability

Relentlessly negative in here, quelle surprise. I thought we looked in it the whole game, people moaning about us barely having a shot on goal in the second half, its almost as if Arsenal have the best defensive record in the league or something, can't possibly be that they've only conceded 26 in 34 because they know how to snuff out attacks and protect their goal? They're ugly, they win ugly, they're horrific to watch and not a very good side, but they don't concede goals, thats what got them to the top of the league.

But blame Howe for not putting it in the back of the net against the best defensive side in the league because it keeps the narrative alive for another week.

Reminded me of that game at Old Trafford when Man Utd were gasping to lose and we were absolutely shite.

Couldn't agree more.

Going to be hard for me to give a measured review of this game. I just can't stand Arsenal or their manager, and I felt they were there to be got at, but we didn't really do it.

Thought we got caught on the hop for the short corners as well which is disappointing, but fuck it.

I will give a proper assessment once the rage has subsided.

It’s all well and good if you just forget all other games this season 😂

I hate how negative I am now, but by all accounts we started the match with the wrong line up. We basically have nothing to play for and we went there with absolutely no intention to have a go.

Not saying we played bad, we where decent at times. But our best offensive outlets where not on the pitch until late in the game.

I have a lot of time for Howe, but he is stubborn as fuck and seems to have no intention to change things up at all. Wolt is a pain point for me, and with no comparison at all, a player like Cherki would never get minutes under Howe. Grafters only.

That last time this team scored more than once in a league match, it took Osula having an out of body experience and scoring one of the goals of the season. Btw, if not for this goal, NUFC would be one point above Forest.

They don't look like scoring, have repeatedly proven incapable of protecting the lead or draw when under pressure, and have the worst keeper in the league on form.

It is difficult to see where the win will come from and they badly need one to see the season through comfortably.

I'm bemused as to this 'patterns of play' stuff that some managers come out with now. Rehearsed pish from the training ground. Where is risk, flair, invention and trying something different gone from this game?
