Feel like Turkey either come into a tournament with no billing whatsoever and do really well (2002, 2008, 2024) or come in as a bit of a dark horse and are comically bad (2020, 2026).

I'm sure I heard on a podcast that every team receives a presentation from either the referees or Fifa before the tournament where they cover any rule changes

 

So he will have known but Miggy being Miggy he's either forgot or he's naively made an innocent comment which the Turkish players have taken advantage of (cos the rule is about confrontational manner, which it didn't look that way)

Sure I saw a few players just lift their shirts over their lower face during conversations in earlier games with no punishment.  Can't see their mouth move and can always say their wiping sweat away.  I think we'll just see players move to doing this instead.
