Classic Poch tbh. He’s the perfect coach for the US. Team spirit plus organization plus press from a very fit side. They’re going to batter Australia and trouble the bigger sides, but the defence is terrifying. Going by that game though they are absolutely maximising their resources.

The tournament needs all three hosts to at least make the knockouts. Based on game one, USA look capable of that and then some. If they get their confidence right up through this group stage they’d be a honking proposition to play in the knockouts.

 

Still, they have the look of a team that are great when it’s all going their way, to me. Could see them falling to bits when it comes to the crunch, we might even get a Brazil-style humiliation if we’re lucky.

Fair play to the US, they looked a good outfit there. I actually think Australia will be better than Paraguay who were unfathomably bad but Turkey will be the proper test of how far the US can go IMO. Feel they’ll be on the end of a proper job from a top team though
