There was a plan, but not by the club, to rotate through 90degrees which would allow expansion to 70,000. Not sure how viable that would be. Also the area where the arena is will soon be vacated but not sure if there are any existing plans for that and to throw a rabbit in there......Im told but guess what, not sure, that the Rueben bros own Gosforth Park. There's always castle leazes to try for again.

In terms of planning permission that would take forever . Back to the Castle Leazes plan of S J Hall

We could just continue to make the Sir John bigger. Just keep pushing back into Leazes Park until it's 5 tiers high and the East Stand looks like a toothpaste box from the back row.

 

With their crazy money they can destroy the whole stadium and will build a new one. With the current restriction going on at East Stand no need to play around with the current design.

Why not take the Camp Nou approach and dig into the ground leaving the pitch much lower? It would solve all sorts of planning issues and you could pretty much bring it up to the level it’s at while still packing in thousands more below.

Yeah, it doesn't work. Plus I seem to remember Stifler suggesting that every ground should have a 90m x 50m panic area under the pitch in case shit kicks off. We'd be fucked if we had to build one of them.

Digging down becomes an option if we could move the SJH stand backwards and/ or rotate the pitch. Create a bigger foot print at ground level and off you go. Be mighty expensive to do.

Well I’m talking more about a stadium rebuild than a modification. There’s only one way that can happen which is building up.

 

I think it will eventually have to happen, moving the ground somewhere else doesn’t seem to be an option anymore and besides, the location is perfect there.

 

We would have to ground share though or just rent the use of somewhere similar to what Spurs did.

 

Geographically it doesn’t leave many options though..

If you go to the club shop at SJP, at the top of the escalator there is leak in the ceiling. There is a bucket there. That leak has been there since Ashley bought the club. I don’t think the bucket has ever been moved, the leak certainly has not been fixed. It has been there far longer than the Gallowgate pigeon.

I hope the owners fix that.
