Has he got botox done? What's with his face? He looks younger now than he did when playing for us. I'll watch this though. Always loved him as a player, despised what he became towards the end of his stint here, and the throwing away of the captain's armband when offered by Sir Bobby.

Really interesting watch. Particularly liked the SBR anecdote about Bassedas. Livid at True Geordie calling Keegan a quitter though. For a Newcastle fan to come out with that is utterly shameful.

Who do you think that Ipswich player was in the story about throwing s*** at him in the changing room?

Senior player at Ipswich in 1996ish - likely a defender if he's been torn a new one by Dyer in training..

Tony Mowbray, Jason Cundy?

Chris Swailes.

Never heard of him. Just googled, looks like the type.

I'm gonna say, simply because of the way Justin Edinburgh and he goaded Roy Keane in the 91 cup final, that I reckon Steve Sedgley is a great shout.

Well, watched the rest of it and I’ve definately softened on him. He had immense talent but didn’t fulfill it to its true potential and although he was obviously a prick at times during his career, I think he knows that and seems an OK guy. I think it was a case of just too much too soon too young. He didn’t have Shearer’s mental strength or Speed’s professionalism. He was a young lad miles from home and made a millionaire for kicking a ball about and he kind of couldn’t tie it all in to become something his talent certainly deserved. Shame. But as he said himself, despite not fulfilling his true potential, he had a good career. Played for England, played in the CL and was considered a top player when he was playing. What a team that could have been for us, and almost was. What an era.

I like these pod casts, the true Geordie allows his guests to speak freely and kind of just sits back and lets it all flow which makes for a good show. I didn’t like his KK quitter remark mind and I get the impression he wasn’t a true die hard fan back in the day and never has been, but he’s built this thing around him and NUFC and he’s doing well so good luck to him. I know he’s a good lad and that was a very good ‘intreview’ with a former player who came across really well.

He was on Talksport this morning talking about the season he had out under Sourness. Apparently the club had sent him to all sorts of specialists over the year and no one could tell him what the issue was, just vaguely that it was a dodgey hip or his back that was affecting his hamstring. Souness got the sack, Roeder came in and recommended a West Ham physio for him to see who diagnosed the problem in one visit (some kind of tendon inflammation) and told him if he'd have had a few injections he'd have been fine to play the whole season. He sounded gutted about it, especially so because Souness had told him he wanted to build the team around him.

Aye he spoke in depth about that in the pod cast.

I've been out with him a few times as he's very pally with a mate and he's a really nice lad - he's certainly done well for himself especially when you look at his first few videos!

Someone needs to have a word with him about what he said about Keegan, mind. To me it seems pretty clear that he's either too young to know why he's talking rubbish, or hasn't done his homework where Keegan's concerned. If he knew, there's no way he'd dare say that about him.

I haven't watched this yet but I'll text my mate about it when I do don't worry!

He was at NUFC for 5 years in his first managerial stint and saw signs of the club becoming something he didn't like when we became a PLC, plus the guy seemed absolutely fucking drained at that stage given all of us efforts he'd put in. Ridiculous to have a pop at him for anything related to that period in our history.

Random thought unrelated to anything being discussed, but I thought it was weird how Dyer was explaining and standing up for the "kid". Dyer was what, 19-20 at the time, and Bassedas was 29 and an Argentinian international player  Don't know why, but that annoyed me a bit.
