He's got a personal life? He can do whatever the f*** he likes with his own money.

and we can comment on how he likes to spend it extravagantly in public but be a tight b****** when it comes to Newcastle.

he's a tight b****** cos he hasn't spent as much as you'd like him to ?

He's spent plenty where his priorities lay. Or where he couldn't give a s*** like the odd casino here or there. That's all I'm saying.

right i give in you win, he shouldn't have any life, he should just throw all his cash into nufc, if he doesn't he's tight b******.

That's just it...he isn't a tight b******. Except when it comes to NUFC.

yet the club owes him over 100million pounds ?

No one forced him to hand over the money to Shepherd and Hall.

that was around 80mill, since than he's put in around another 100million.

Another £136.5 million as of the last published accounts.

We've got a new policy on salaries and it was always going to be difficult when the contracts of the high earners were coming up for renewal.

It looks like Jose has had an offer from Liverpool which we won't match. I'm not convinced that Liverpool's prospects are better than ours in the long term, but they're a bigger name for sure. I think he'll be off.

Barton I'm not so sure about, because while he may get more money elsewhere I don't think one of the bigger clubs will want to take the risk.

:sadnod:  :snod: on both counts

Newcastle tell AC Milan to pay £12m to secure the services of unsettled Jose Enrique - Colin Young, The Mail

Newcastle have slapped a £12million price tag on Jose Enrique after AC Milan re-iterated their desire to sign the player.

The 25-year-old has attracted attention from Liverpool, Manchester United and Aston Villa this season.

Enrique himself has hinted he could leave St James’ Park as he looks for a club that features in the Champions League.

Milan are keen to revamp their ageing squad and have not been scared off by Newcastle’s valuation of the player.

Alan Pardew would be reluctant to lose the services of the left-back but would let him leave if all the proceeds from the sale were added to the £35m received for Andy Carroll to reinvest in the team.

Newcastle's Enrique flattered by Liverpool link - Darren Lewis, The Mirror

Jose Enrique claims he would be ready to join Liverpool because of "broken promises" at Newcastle.

The 25-year-old Spaniard - who insists he is desperate for Champions League football and to represent his country - says Manchester United and Aston Villa are also keen on him, but it is Liverpool who appear to head of the queue for the £6m-rated full-back.

Anfield director of Football Damien Commolli is said to have been impressed by the left-back's display as Newcastle kept a clean sheet away to Blackburn last weekend.

"It is flattering that Liverpool are interested," Enrique said last night. "I've also heard that Manchester United and Aston Villa have asked about me.

"I'm happy at Newcastle, but I'm not closing the door to anything. I love the fans here at Newcastle. I have suffered with the team, with the relegation two years ago and I have to be realistic.

"Newcastle is not working well, it has made promises it has not been able to keep and I am ambitious. I want to play in the Champions League, major competitions and to go to the Spanish team.

"I have the dream of the senior national team debut. I work to get the chance someday. I want to be prepared to do well in the red shirt."

The star, who has 16 months left on his current contract, added: "I've always said I'm fine at the club. But, like any player, I want to win titles.

"I want to say to my children in the future I've played in the Champions League or for Spain."

TBH we shouldn't really believe anything the papers say. I remember like four years ago they were saying that S Taylor was going to go Barca in exchange for Puyol.

By same token I remember Pardew saying AC is not sale.

As Pardew himself has pointed out: " No " is the only answer a manager can give when asked such a question.  The reverse situation :

Journalist: "So, so what's the stance on Carroll, is he for sale?"

Pardew " Yes he is, so we're grateful for any offers."

Everyone sees how ridiculous such an answer is. It unsettles a player if he's not interested in leaving, and if he's halfway unsettled,  that answer reduces Castle's bargain position enormously. And if we're not interested in selling him, which was our original stance before that ludicrous offer came along, the answer must logically be no.  Our deal for Carroll would not have been as near as good , if Pardew had given another answer than categorically no. Unless the player hands in a transfer request before a bid is submitted, "not for sale" will always be a managers stance.

Liverpool cannot have made an offer to jose or his agent because his contract does not expire until summer 2012.  Clubs can only make offers/talk to him in Jan 2012 at the earliest.  If they have then its called tapping up and we should report them.

Having said that, Liverpool raiding Newcastle for Enrique and Carroll is reminiscent of the 1970's and 1980's when they took McDermott, and Kennedy and ended up winning numerous European cups and domestic titles and trophies etc.  Latterly they took Beardsley from us also.

If we had told them where to go when they made bids for these players, I doubt very much whether they would have been as successful as they were, not least because Kennedy scored the winner in one European cup final.

Its clear that Dalglish has convinced the owners that Liverpools previous success has been based upon bringing in the best players, no matter what the cost.

Perhaps if we had had a policy of holding on to our best players it could have been our name on these trophies rather than the bin dippers.  When you look at some of the players we have sold it is bordering on criminal.

Gascoigne, Waddle, Bearsdsley, MacDonald, McDermott, Cole, Kennedy.  All absolutely cracking players at the top of their game who went on to represent England for several years!

Yeah, but TBH even after we sold them for years we were title contenders, I mean five years ago we were playing in europe. The difference is that nowadays we don't have reassurance that we'll be bringing in new faces whereas when we sold Cole we brought in Les Ferdinand.

Transfer request handed in.

If he wants Champions league football maybe he should start playing better because at the level he is playing now I'd say he's a good championship player. Players should strive to get their own club forward instead of getting to the top by leap-frogging to another team. Players these days..tut

What tosh plenty of managers/owners have said everyone has a price over the years.

Brown said: “I think everyone is for sale but we’d want £10m for Michael. (on about Turner leaving Hull)

"Everyone is for sale at a price," was all Celtic boss Gordon Strachan (on about  Hartson leaving Celtic)

Roeder "Everyone has a price and if someone came in for him, we would consider it" (on clubs being linked to Di Canio)

Steve Bruce "Of course, everyone has a price, even if you are talking about the best players in the world. And, if my players are linked with bigger clubs, then so be it." (On about players leaving Brum)

Dave Whealn "I have said to the lad that if a club that he wants to go to comes in and offers enough money, we would let him go. We obviously don’t want him to go, but we know he is a player who is in demand." (On accepting serious offers for CNZ)

Notice none of them say grateful you make Pards sound like a big issue seller

He's in the top 4 or 5 fullbacks in the Premier League.

Not in my opinion. He makes hellish mistakes nearly every match and he just doesn't seem to learn from them. He's a good player don't get me wrong. But there are much better left backs in the premier league than him. Plus, now that he's basically came out and says he doesn't want to play for us....the sooner he goes the better I say.

After the sale of Carroll, he's been out of focus. He did cost us a point against Fham, and had two big errors against Bham that could have led to a goal or two. But before Christmas he was outstanding.. If we get £12 mill for him, I'm satisfied. I have no doubt that Van Aanholt is able to fill Enriques shoes. He dominated against us in Carling Cup, and has better pace and crosses better than Enrique. I think he will be one hell of a bargain, would have played in most other teams. Sadly for him, Cole is in Chelsea. And he will probably be paid half of enrique's current salary.

WTF

agree he makes mistakes but he makes them in the right areas, recoverable areas where he knows he has the strength/pace to recover and make amends...i'd say exactly the same about the best fullbacks in the league though, Evra, Clichy, Cole (maybe not as much on the mistakes side with him)

as for the bit in bold
