LIVERPOOL want to sign Arsenal’s Theo Walcott in January.

Kop boss Brendan Rodgers is willing to pay the England star £100,000-a-week AND play him in the central striking role he prefers.

Liverpool reckon they could land Walcott for just £8million as the unsettled 23-year-old is out of contract next summer.

But Rodgers needs Walcott to resist growing Arsenal pressure to sign a new deal before Christmas.

An Anfield source said: “Theo Walcott and Liverpool would be a perfect fit.

“It’s no secret we are looking for a striker to play with Luis Suarez and Fabio Borini.

“Theo ticks all the right boxes. He is young, he is fast and he has great skills.”

Arsene Wenger yesterday slapped a Christmas deadline on talks with Walcott.

The Arsenal boss said: “There is urgency. We want to sort it out before Christmas, one way or the other.”

So far, though, Arsenal have offered Walcott £75,000-a- week — significantly less than Liverpool have on the table.

Rodgers is also desperate to get Joe Cole’s £120,000-a- week wages off the payroll and will look to sell Jose Enrique and Stewart Downing.

Would you have him back? And for what price?

No. Left back isn't a priority and he's a bit over-rated anyway.

PS - Why would they be after Walcott? Don't they think that Sterling is good enough?

£3m, with an added clause in his contract that he must play for free whenever we enter the top 6, and if we finish in it, he must admit his eyebrows look fucking stupid.

Jose Enrique will be dumped by #lfc in Jan? Would #nufc want him back. I always said he's suspect defensively, made better player by Jonas!

One-on-one he's/was a beast defensively.

This. He was questionable positionally at times. But generally an excellent defender. His biggest weakness was his inability to play the correct pass or put a decent cross in when we were attacking.

My only complaint about him when he was playing here, was that he used to try and play the ball out of defence in dangerous areas/situations, rather than just booting it to safety. It looked good when it came off, but wasnt worth the risk most of the time.

What does Santon offer going forward from LB? Crosses, no. Cutting in and playing a killer through ball? No. Shots? No. Running towards the byline, stopping turning around and rolling the ball to someone else? Yes.

Santon is 21 and developing. Enrique is 27 Amd developed. There's a difference.
