He's got a personal life? He can do whatever the fuck he likes with his own money.

and we can comment on how he likes to spend it extravagantly in public but be a tight bastard when it comes to Newcastle.

AC Milan bought two left backs in January. Its a non-starter (and more lazy jounalism).

Nah man he's gone, the Daily Mail says so.

On second thoughts, you might be right!

:frantic:

Lots of similarities to the AC transfer here, i.e. transfer rumours popping up in the press from seemingly nowhere.

There's been one source running the story for two days based on an interview to Marca, it's nothing like the Carroll affair.

From what i've been told, AC bid 12m for Jose in January, the club said no and that they wouldn't sell for less than 25m. The guy's a good source, thought he was taking the piss at first but if the journos are picking up on murmurs like this now, it could quite possibly be true.

The idea that we wouldn't sell Enrique for less than £25m never mind £12m  when his contract is up after next season is so f***ing ridiculous that you should feel ashamed to post this garbage.

Don't shoot the messenger, the guy actually works within NUFC. I don't think the club genuinely values Jose at 25m but i'm certain now that some serious enquiries were made for a 12m fee in January (from AC) whereas before i didn't think Milan had made contact. On the 25m front, if that bit is true, i think it's a case of the club humouring Milan and just seeing if they'd bite.

He's spent plenty where his priorities lay. Or where he couldn't give a shit like the odd casino here or there. That's all I'm saying.

No one forced him to hand over the money to Shepherd and Hall.

Why should he put it towards the playing staff?

Serious question.

Because he's the owner of Newcastle United? If he'd rather piss away his considerable spare cash frivolously on some roulette table what does that say about his priorities?

He can do what he likes with his own money.

The fans have given him nothing but shit, he's not even a fan of the club - but he should use his own money on the club?

Get real.

You guys are trying to argue that someone who chooses to become an owner of a football club, shouldnt be judged on their ability as an owner by whether they actually invest any of their own money to improve the team they have chosen to buy?

We've got a new policy on salaries and it was always going to be difficult when the contracts of the high earners were coming up for renewal.

It looks like Jose has had an offer from Liverpool which we won't match. I'm not convinced that Liverpool's prospects are better than ours in the long term, but they're a bigger name for sure. I think he'll be off.

Barton I'm not so sure about, because while he may get more money elsewhere I don't think one of the bigger clubs will want to take the risk.

Newcastle tell AC Milan to pay £12m to secure the services of unsettled Jose Enrique - Colin Young, The Mail

Newcastle have slapped a £12million price tag on Jose Enrique after AC Milan re-iterated their desire to sign the player.

The 25-year-old has attracted attention from Liverpool, Manchester United and Aston Villa this season.

Enrique himself has hinted he could leave St James’ Park as he looks for a club that features in the Champions League.

Milan are keen to revamp their ageing squad and have not been scared off by Newcastle’s valuation of the player.

Alan Pardew would be reluctant to lose the services of the left-back but would let him leave if all the proceeds from the sale were added to the £35m received for Andy Carroll to reinvest in the team.

Newcastle's Enrique flattered by Liverpool link - Darren Lewis, The Mirror

Jose Enrique claims he would be ready to join Liverpool because of "broken promises" at Newcastle.

The 25-year-old Spaniard - who insists he is desperate for Champions League football and to represent his country - says Manchester United and Aston Villa are also keen on him, but it is Liverpool who appear to head of the queue for the £6m-rated full-back.

Anfield director of Football Damien Commolli is said to have been impressed by the left-back's display as Newcastle kept a clean sheet away to Blackburn last weekend.

"It is flattering that Liverpool are interested," Enrique said last night. "I've also heard that Manchester United and Aston Villa have asked about me.

"I'm happy at Newcastle, but I'm not closing the door to anything. I love the fans here at Newcastle. I have suffered with the team, with the relegation two years ago and I have to be realistic.

"Newcastle is not working well, it has made promises it has not been able to keep and I am ambitious. I want to play in the Champions League, major competitions and to go to the Spanish team.

"I have the dream of the senior national team debut. I work to get the chance someday. I want to be prepared to do well in the red shirt."

The star, who has 16 months left on his current contract, added: "I've always said I'm fine at the club. But, like any player, I want to win titles.

"I want to say to my children in the future I've played in the Champions League or for Spain."

TBH we shouldn't really believe anything the papers say. I remember like four years ago they were saying that S Taylor was going to go Barca in exchange for Puyol.
