José Enrique

I encountered a scouser today. 47 years old and he couldn't read or write.

Bet the cunt could get into a locked Ford Focus within a minute though.

To be fair you just have to look at a Ford and it's doors spring open.

Surely the fact that Fords are so shit is the ultimate theft deterent? Why would anyone want to be seen dead driving one?

Okay majorly off topic but I disagree with that, I'd have an Escort Cosworth any day of the week. Then again I'm quite a chav.

Imagine living around Detroit. Almost 90% of the cars I saw were Fords. And most carried the bumper sticker saying "Out of a job yet, keep buying foreign." Lolmichigan

Spanish full-back Jose Enrique says his Liverpool team-mates are encouraging him to play for England.

Wouldn't even get in the England team.

Cole & Baines would be selected ahead of him.

He wouldn't be selected for the England team simply because he's the best option.

Capello would pick Dagenham's reserve LB, Gerry Lublock or something.

Gotta say that it's quite weird that we have tried every player imaginable at LB to replace Capdevila, but José Enrique still hasn't got a call.

He's getting considerable more time in our media now that he plays for Liverpool, though, but it's pretty unlikely he'll go to the EC if Del Bosque hasn't thrown him into the mix at this point.

Any idea why he doesn't get a chance for Spain, do they see him as not able to play their passing game? Or is it a mystery like the one where Gareth Barry gets picked for England?

Del Bosque is pretty conservative when it comes to throwing in new names, for example Soldado hasn't got a call despite his incredible scoring record this season, and the poor form of Villa and Torres (although Villa's form for Spain is alright). It's not a case of "picking on reputation", he's always said he values having a core of players that know each other and are used to play with each other, particularly given our brand of football.

I think that Del Bosque envisions Arbeloa as the "safe" defensive-minded LB, and he's looking for a more adventurous alternative, so he's been trying Monreal and Alba in that position, who are better going forward. Possibly José Enrique doesn't fit this mold so for now he's out. But I think he'll get a chance when Puyol retires and Ramos moves to the center of the defence (thus Arbeloa starting on the right and another spot opening up for a more defensive LB).

So he leaves NUFC to join Liverpool to ultimately get called up to the Spain squad, but ends up being given the idea to play for England instead. There's a meme in there somewhere

Look at the league table Jose :) I loved him as a NUFC player, but lost a lot of respect for him with the way he left, saying stuff like he wanted to wait until we are free of relegataion before signing a new contract, then never signing one.

If we finish ahead of them at the end of May I'll be looking for any thoughts him and Carroll have to say.

He never actually said anything at that time, it all came through the manager. Pretty much the opposite of Barton, yet getting the same treatment. Strange.

He's only saying that, or somebody close to him is saying it, to try to force his way into the spain squad.

Judging from VI's post above, as it stands, Enrique won't be in the squad any time soon.
