We arent talking about who has had the best career here or even who has had the best season overall, but team of the year in the PL. I think Bruno Fernandes is a very good and underrated player, but he isnt getting into team of the season in the PL this year.
-
100%, why haven't they cottoned onto this, we need experts not pundits, I watched a game on tv in Turkey a few years ago with an analyst from Spurs, it was fascinating what he was spotting.
-
Like most footballers, he’ll end up at the club that offers him the biggest wage packet.
-
Wish TV punditry had the same tactical insight.
-
Both really to be fair. Think the eye test is the ultimate test, but stats are hard to argue with. When a central midfielder is averaging nearly 40 G&A a season for like 8 years straight, when do people take notice? This season has been one of his best for us believe it or not. A season that has also made me feel very sorry for him.
-
With regards to Delap, his next move is massive for him. He needs to consider it really carefully, as the coach he’s going to play for is probably more important than the club. Sign for someone like Howe or Emery and he’s Englands next main man up top. Sign for someone like Postacoglu or the current mess that’s Man United and he could well end up as a bench merchant at West Ham in a couple of years.
-
We paid £40m for Tino when he was an unproven talent coming back from an ACL injury. Now, there’s a good chance he’s England’s right back for the next decade. They’re looking at £80m-£100m for us to consider it.
-
Tonali / Isak / Burn / Hall / Gordon are only hands off players for me, for their current quality, years to come, leadership or style of play. Everyone else has a price in this modern day.
-
He’s a perfect striker in todays game, had running beyond a back line that teams hate. He's not finished article, but then any 2nd striker we sign shouldn’t be as Isak is that, and Howe can take them to next level. For £30m, he’s a great pick up but looks like going elsewhere.
-
Not too dissimilar to Joelinton regarding this tbh. Caicedo is a very very good player imo.
- Today
-
This seems to be Caicedo's approach to football. Overcommit to tackles in the hope opponents start pulling out. Yellow card armour on Sunday allowed him to do it all game.
-
Yeah I remember that game ending thinking we'd push top 7-8 the following season, Rafa about to stay on. Then Ashley did his usual. I was also thinking we'd maybe get an Arteta to replace him and we'd still do okay on the pitch. Nope, here's Steve Bruce. Lol. I actually think that summer was the most soul sucking of all Ashley ones because I stupidly enjoyed the Rafa ride. The Bruce appointment just proved he wasn't even trying.
-
If someone offered £30M for him I'd snap your hands off.
-
In this FFP age the only players who aren't for sale are those who can't be replaced.
-
You wouldn't sell Osula for an inflated fee? Why?
-
Players we must not sell regardless of inflated fees offered: - Isak - Tonali - Bruno G - Botman - Livramento - Hall - Miley - Joelinton - Osula Players that have low transfer value but are important to the squad (don't sell): - Burn - Schar - Trippier - Murphy - Krafth - Lascelles - Dubravka Players we could consider selling if an inflated fee is offered: - Barnes or Gordon - Willock - Pope Players we should sell/release: - Wilson - Targett - Longstaff - Vlachodimos Positions to strengthen: - GK (If Pope is sold and a good value upgrade is available) - RCB (must sign) - CM (someone who can retain possession for games against low block) - RW (must sign) - LW (If Gordon or Barnes are sold) - Striker (must sign)
-
I hope its not that. Equal parts boring and ugly.
-
There aren't a whole heap of great right backs around. I wouldn't be selling.
-
It would have been good without the blurriness
-
Remember when players could have a bit of bad form and tiredness? Not possible these days apparently, must be aliens or big pharma etc.
-
The whole diving thing is thrown at attackers/ the attacking team so often, but actually the most blatant dives are often committed in defensive situations by the defending team, they just never get looked at with th same scrutiny because they don't result in a goal or chance. They are just as bad though, it's still cheating and those players are still conning the officials by diving. Refs need to wise up to it as it's becoming more and more common and incredibly tedious.
-
And that would've been the exact right time to buy him, not now. Just like Gordon he was at the very bottom of his upward curve then and he's pretty much at his peak now. He's not going to be worth what nowhere near what anyone pays for him now in two years. It's why everyone wants Mbeumo, he will absolutely be worth the same if not more in two years time. Plus he's been on a steady upward climb for two seasons now and is just about to peak over the next couple of years.
-
He's only 22, basically now had two full seasons since his big injury so clearly back up to speed. I'd not even entertain an offer less than £75M. That's pretty much double what we paid for him and I don't think anyone would argue he's not twice the player he was then. But realistically if we NEEDED big money this summer and Liverpool/Man City would pay that then I'd certainly give it some good thought. That's crazy money for a full back and there's no shortage of quality in the market for us to replace him.
-
No it isn’t! Not asking for a player as strong and physical as Joelinton with Cherki’s technical ability.
