He used the stadium to sponsor his brands because that had value to him. He didn't use the training ground because it didn't. You'd need to demonstrate a record of consistent success to someone external in developing talent in order to maximise the value is all I'm saying, like Arsenal or Man U could. That may be better for us with a new training ground, even if I think the whole idea of sponsoring a training ground is a bit daft. I do think we all wished that new training ground had moved on faster. Anyway, this is circular so I'm away.

When it comes to football snobbery, Juventus are a bigger draw. Playing in the Italian sunshine, surrounded by beautiful Italian architecture or playing under the grey clouds and pissing rain of the northest of north surrounded by shabby council estates. Then they look at the histories of both clubs, again there is only one winner. They don't look at the future and potential of a club like Newcastle. It's a shame, but it's true. It's a big obstacle to overcome.
-
No I's saying you can't say they're making a mistake until you know the facts. What you ask is up to you, why don't you ask the questions to self acclaimed football expert?

Seriously? The owners, board, execs, and management have gotten us two Champions League qualifications, two cup finals (won one), made record revenues year on year, and built a squad with world-class players in three and a half seasons. They have achieved more in 3 seasons than what others failed to achieve in the previous 40. And you're saying they don't know what they're doing or aren't doing enough because we haven't used PSR loopholes and don't have a training kit and ground sponsor? Yeah. We are definitely becoming an entitled bunch aren't we. As you were

If you were to merge Thomas Tuchel and Tino Livramento into one person...

Process expedited eh.

Nothing new. I suppose this tidbit is mildly interesting: "Ideally, Newcastle would prefer to bring in a chief executive before a sporting director but, should they decide upon the right candidate for the latter, those appointments could be reversed." Apparently CEO is in the final stages.

Ashley left millions on the table - what are you talking about ? He left millions due to laziness and preferring to prioritisd his own brands. 20 80 rule type stuff. we don’t know what we would get with APT or otherwise because we dint have any deal. -
I hope you’re right. From the outside looking in it seems to me that there are off-field issues which are preventing us from moving with the required speed and decisiveness.
-
I don't know about you, but I think even a third would be an almighty stretch. For now at least we're operating under APT rules and would have to demonstrate third party interest. I can't believe Ashley would have left even a few hundred grand on the table if there was interest. I'm guessing of course. A new training ground yes, and particularly something tied up with developing local talent like I jokingly suggested.

Who knows, possibly millions. As Ive alluded to previously as well, it could be no suitable company has bid regardless of the value. I don't know but I'd like to know. It's not even like Ive had a go at them for NOT doing it, I'd just like to know as it's seems an easy hit.

It’s speculative and Silverstone doesn’t appear to agree. What have we already missed out on? The trouble with these conversations is that neither of us knows. I have no issue with the (hypothetical) concept of being wrong about something but absent of Silverstone opening Pandora’s box and explaining the reality we’re doomed to go round in circles. So I’ll leave it there. -
But this is the key thing - the PL can't decide what we can and can't receive in sponsorship money. They can only decide how much of that goes towards our PSR figures. We could actually (attempt to) achieve the opposite of your concern here. Let's say Riyadh Air say "We're going to give the club £20m/year to call it the Riyadh Air Training Complex". As I understand it, the PL can't stop them putting the money in the clubs bank account, they can just say "Ok but we're only letting you use £5m/year towards the PSR figures because that's what we think is the market value". That's pretty much as I remembered it. That line only makes sense if you're talking about two separate companies (eg. Adidas and NUFC) rather than two companies with the same owners.
-
So even if we'd got a third of that it would've made a sizeable difference.
-
Yes but only as one of the variables and possibly not enough to make up for what we've already missed out on.
-
A quick Google says Man Utd get about £15m per year for Carrington. I'm guessing that's towards the top end. But that's also the place that produced Scholes, Giggs etc, so you'd want to be associated with it. No idea what you'd get for a ground associated with ice batch wheelie bins. As a laugh, we should probably just buy Wallsend boys club and sponsor that instead, because what a hell of a lot of brilliant footballers have come through from there.
-
Also the shoot with the new kit was weeks ago before the season ended, so logically Calum was part of that. Presume the site won't remove him until it's confirmed he's left.
-
So is he staying now ?

Feels to me like we’re not shopping with any serious intent.
