Brighton I agree about. Bournemouth appear to have genuinely tried signing the best players they can attract, but are being pillaged. Brighton would have signed some hipster 19 year old to replace a striker such as Solanke last summer for example, Bournemouth went and spent £40m on a Brazilian international striker hitting his prime from Porto.

The thing is if we’re genuinely interested in him then a) you get a signal from the player that he’s interested and b) if the club is a willing seller and a ball park price then you negotiate. They must have an idea what they’d have to go to to get him? Obviously Parish wouldn’t budge on Guehi last summer but I hope we either offer close to what they actually want or just say “no, sorry that’s too much” and move on”. Im making it out to be far more simplistic but just making a point. If we go after premier league players, if that’s what Howe wants we’re going to have to pay the transfer fees and wages.
