Not counting penalties is the dumbest shit on the planet. Wonder what Brighton were doing giving such a shit player penalty duties.
-
Yes but you can’t have two different correct perceptions. One of us has to be wrong.
-
Hope this doesn't interfere with their potential pursuit of Longstaff
-
Also, isn't the whole point that we sign someone like Joao Pedro, who's 23, and take his game to the next level? Theres every chance we will add 20m to his value in 12 months under Eddie Howes tutelage.
-
I mean, 2 or 3 good seasons would be more than most clubs get from most players.
-
Because that’s what he’s doing at Brighton. And he’s not been really good there either. In his defence Brighton almost market themselves as a springboard. The squad building is focussed on value rather than achievement. Got a bag of AM/RW and like 3 CMs and CBs

What's elite? Isak, Bruno, Tonali, Gordon, Trippier, Botman? At the very least Tonali and Isak were incredibly marquee signings, even if there was an element of risk attached. We afforded them, although those transfers are very difficult to do, there's nothing stopping us pulling one out again. The only difference now is that we are having to be a little more cautious towards the PSR ramifications.

Erm… Cunha had 21 G/A - JP had 11 (non penalties). Cunha has consistently better underlying numbers among most publicly available data points. On the eye test Cunha semi consistently scored worldies - excellent long range finisher - maybe that over performance isn’t maintainable but to me - he’s done it long enough to prove he just has that superior level of ability. JP hasn’t shown that. Both are hot heads and are questionable dressing room presences. But Cunha has shown he’s a cut above and JP hasn’t. I like JP. Fairly unique profile. He wins physical duels. Can play 10 and 9. Links it up, beats a man, find a pass etc. but we are buying more of a project and you are right - Howe is the man to realise potential. If he doesn’t tow the line and deliver he won’t play. That German/awustrian/whatever manager was gassing him and that maybe went to his head.
-
Nowt to do with that, it's the linked players nearly all costing 60 million when we have to spend more wisely. It makes you think we are shopping in the wrong market that's all.
-
Couldn't think of a better environment for him to come into. Two Brazilian big bros to take him under their wings. Think he'd thrive.
-
And miss out the guesswork and whinging? Come on, get in the transfer window spirit For once, i will cut some slack because we havent signed anyone im forever and people are desperate for that hit.
-
He's a journalist. If that's what you think a journalist should be doing...to me it's very strange. Fortunately I don't have X/Twitter anymore so what I read from him is on here. gbandit sums it up well some posts up. Edwards is boring and has nothing to say.
-
I think he's for sure a crackerjack but we are bigger than Watford and Brighton and we are a team on the up I dont know why he'd want to leave unless big Jo savages him in training 😂
-
Perhaps just see how it plays out?
-
Think he’s signed some good youngsters by the looks of it, but we’ll never know what his 1st team signings would have been, I suspect a little bit different to the current links though.
-
If Mitchell was in charge of recruitment like we thought he was gonna be when he joined us. We'd have made plenty of signings by now from abroad. High potential players for Eddie to work with. In my opinion of course.
-
Really good player, but why do i get the feeling he'll be a two/three season of being really good, then kicks off because we wants to move on. Hope I’m wrong on that, but he certainly doesn't give me Bruno, Big Joe vibes.
-
100% It's a problem for sure. I guess we just have to buy less of them but at inflated prices. Not sure what else we can do about it.
-
Eh !! At the time of the takeover the media said we would have Messi and Ronaldo playing in a rocket powered super stadium that carried out stonings and beheadings once a month.
-
Too expensive/hope we don't fuck about with the price just pay what it takes/too foreign/not foreign enough/Should have gone to a different market/can't guarantee quality from other leagues/kill me now.
-
Been busy at work today but saw Edwards’s “👀” twitter post early. Came on here to see what it was about and it was just him saying we’ve opened talks. Raging.

I’m completely at a loss with some of the posts on the last two pages. PIF is one of the largest investment funds in the world, acting for the benefit of one of one of the top 10 most influential counties in the world. They bought Newcastle United as an investment opportunity for over 300m and have since easily doubled that by investments in the playing squad and facilities. There is no sign that they won’t spend anything below what the rules allow and there should soon be an announcement about a billion pound stadium investment. They saved us from almost certain relegation under the fat mess, got us in the CL 2/3 years and won us out first trophy in a lifetime. Yet here we are: posters lamenting that we are not a priority. It’s laughable really. Would you rather have still had Ashley in charge, or PIF spent 10bn to buy us the league in the first year? Surely not!? PIF are being very ambitious owners making all the right calls so far and developing our beloved club to be a force to be reckoned with long after they sell up. I couldn’t be more happy about how they’ve handled things with NUFC.
