Used to think that until we played Bromley

Selling Fernandes for a large amount solves one problem but creates an even bigger one tbh. How do they replace him? He's carried that club and suddenly swapping him for a bag of cash doesn't seem like such a good deal after all. The way that club wastes money on absolute shite I'd not back them to fill even half the hole him leaving would create. Their signings have been wank for years now and now they have to spend £100m correctly to replace him? I'll not hold my breath
-
Longstaff remains the sort of player we need for the domestic cups, surely? Don't think we can be using the likes of Isak, Tonali, Botman etc in the early rounds.
-
From what I have seen of him there's nothing to suggest he's near the level of Lewis Miley.
-
From what I can see. They use consultants to hire "best in class" people. But they aren't strongly led or empowered in strategic direction. And as you say, big decisions are slow. Staveley is a big miss. She had drive, direction and influence, although she seems to love spending other people's money a bit recklessly. Disappointed in Eales handling of the DOF role. It seems a power play in retrospect because he didn't have the power.

Oh without a shadow of a doubt and for a variety of reasons - to protect relationships, to avoid potential libel or where they won't have 100% proof or evidence. I've heard so many stories over the years on people within football that I would never dare put onto a public forum, let alone in the press. -
I understand the logic if they sell him but he’s carried them for a few years. Your worst season and then worst player gone; surely hard to return from?!
-
I'll be honest I've only ever seen him play once, against us, and he was worse than shite. I'm sure a fair few mackems were getting on his back at parts during last season as well.
-
I think despite all of Eddie's magical work, we are a bit rudderless at boardroom level. Eales was announced as leaving 9 months ago yet he is still in place. We move at a pace which is beyond slow when it comes to macro decision making. I'm still having a difficult time pinning down what PIFs intentions are with us, I'll know when the new stadium question is answered I suppose, but even then will I? What if it becomes like Neon we announce it and don't follow through? Sounds hard to believe but it would be peak nufc.

I do think journalists do hear things they can't share - frequently. I've not paid close attention but oftentimes they do share small tidbits that turn out to have a lot of truth behind them. Football clubs are fairly large businesses. Newcastle isn't that big of a city. -
The common playbook. Liam Kennedy calling himself a journalist is the bigger shock here.
-
I've said this for a long time. Ligue 1 is the best league for it too - physical. La Liga, Belgium works well. I think FSG are looking into it. Chelsea, Man City, Brighton already at it. It's part of my "PIF don't do everything they can to make us a success" view. They give our rivals massive money. They don't use the Saudi league to park players for us.
-
Can I ask those on here who rate Bellingham and think they'll get good money for him what they have seen to indicate that ? The times I've seen him he's never stood out or dominated a game in that league, so what makes anyone think he can do it at a much higher level ? Birmingham virtually gave him away and no PL or even top Championship club was interested. If I change my surname to Messi will I be worth a lot of money ?
-
Be unbelievable business for Man United if they get 80 million for a 30 year old. It's an incredibly annoying deal as it should strengthen them massively if they spend it properly .
-
Yup heard things but didn't utter a word until after the fact

The Geordie Journos said they had heard things about Mitchell -
-
As he should be, getting big money for a guy of that age is an amazing deal for him and them.
-
Jim will be absolutely desperate to get that deal done

The athletic and times now reporting the Fernandes agent/Saudi story from yesterday.

It is undoubtedly going to be a tough task for them. I imagine most fans are well aware of that. They will need more experience in the squad for sure. Clueless as to whether they can afford to do this. I suspect that if they don’t it will prove to be a poison chalice promotion; though maybe one season in the big show may help the finances for future pushes.

Unless DCL is being brought in as the new kitman... N-O
-
Absolutely no chance any journalist, particularly the likes of Hope and Edward’s would sit on any information. The more disruptive the better for them.

I've been thinking about this. Suppose the journos did know how bad Mitchell was in terms of internal reputation and his approach to the role - how would we have reacted if they pummelled him and these stories came out while the season was ongoing or whilst he was still in the role? We'd probably all be fuming at the disruption it would have caused, so I can see some argument for keeping certain things out of the public domain until his notice had been handed in.
