Brighton I agree about. Bournemouth appear to have genuinely tried signing the best players they can attract, but are being pillaged. Brighton would have signed some hipster 19 year old to replace a striker such as Solanke last summer for example, Bournemouth went and spent £40m on a Brazilian international striker hitting his prime from Porto.

The thing is if we’re genuinely interested in him then a) you get a signal from the player that he’s interested and b) if the club is a willing seller and a ball park price then you negotiate. They must have an idea what they’d have to go to to get him? Obviously Parish wouldn’t budge on Guehi last summer but I hope we either offer close to what they actually want or just say “no, sorry that’s too much” and move on”.
