Pleased Bristol are getting knocked out (unless some miracle happens) as they have looked total shit every time I've seen them play live. Sheff United will be a lot harder to beat than Bristol, if the mackems do get through. I would have heavily fancied Coventry or Sunderland to win the final if Bristol had somehow got through.

One of a very few yes, I've been seeing derbies since the 70s and I'm quite happy for the cunts to spend the rest of eternity in the lower leagues
-
Absolutely gutting for the team that finishes 6th to have to play the Europa League anthem at their ground next season while the Champions League anthem will be played at Old Trafford or the London Yankees Stadium.

What happens if we don't shag them twice a season? What happens if they do what Luton did and take 4 points off us? Let them rot where they are. We've got bigger fish to fry than playing that lot. We'd have everything to lose and nothing to gain. When we beat them last season it was the most underwhelming win against them ever due to the huge gulf between the 2 clubs. Had they somehow beaten us we'd never have heard the end of it. The high of victory can never be as extreme as what the low of a defeat would be.

Shame it won't happen given the fact Cov are about to stuff them 4-0

I’d say that’s pretty much spot on. Only tweak would be to add someone like walker-peters to cover right and left FB as we do look a bit a thin there. After that there so many possibilities that could be done to strengthen the overall squad. Could sell willock as well and gamble with 5 CM till January if it helped us afford better quality players now. (Could always go to 2 man midfield with either 3 at back or a no.10 if we hit an injury crisis). Selling Murphy while his value is high might be the sensible thing to do. Selling barnes and bringing in Wissa as cover LW/CF is an alternative to the standard RW/CF combo people keep talking about. (Better CF than Mbuemo and a lot cheaper). A big window ahead with loads of options. Whatever they end up doing, I’m pretty comfortable that we’ll likely start next season with our strongest team/squad in my lifetime. 🤞

( if we qualify!! ) roll on chelsea

It’s a bit bitterness as I feel people think it dampens us qualifying it doesn’t it will be great still and we can push on still and to be honest the Europa final will actually be a very good watch.

No, there’s apparently some people on wearside hoping for a similar outcome

Did you moan about sevilla finishing 12 and being in the champions league by winning the europa?

Ahh nevermind -
This is bullshit this is all about who is in the final and not what it means if it was us you would be loving it i don’t think there’s anything wrong with this Man Utd were 5 mins from going out
-
The same way selling Anderson for 30 million and buying the Greek keeper for 20 mil helped us avoid PSR trouble.
-
Take away the champions league place and it becomes the conference league. Problem is Uefa will be loving the amount of attention the Europa league has received this year.
-
Fucking spot on
-
Olympiacos wouldn't have happened as they dropped down from Europa into europa from the Conference league.
-
I haven't really seen much panicking. But then I'm not looking for it either.
-
That's hilariously pathetic 😂 One thing to turn up with a few flags, it's another to film it from a drone as if it was some rousing pre-battle scene from a Ridley Scott film.
-
The Premier League is 17 teams with three EFL guests so, when you put it like that, more than a third of the division qualifies for the Champions League now.
-
Really like that, will look class with white shorts and green socks. I know, Saudi. But the trouble is, dark green and white makes for a class footy kit.
-
Let’s make sure we take a moment and watch those replays again. We won a fucking trophy. Fuck the UCL, fuck PSR, fuck what percentage of revenue we spend on wages. this year will never be repeated and all of us that were here to see it; we are the luckiest and righteous of all of them.

Read that Trafford wants £100k a week. I hope we look elsewhere.

The ones with the chriss cross background are always fakes.

The Europa competitions are probably in a bit of an existential crisis now, certainly in terms of being an honour in their own right. The Conference League title will mean very little if there's always an English team of Chelsea's strength munching through the competition with their second string. Then again, Olympiacos pulled off a shock last season and Betis might yet do the same. Perhaps there's not enough of a carrot to guarantee the English clubs won't treat it with disdain (like Spurs did under Conte). There's a slim hope that variety will prevail but ultimately every season will be about stopping a default Premier League victor. What is really depressing is that the same will seemingly now apply to the Europa League, meaning a once great competition has been completely undermined by the structural changes. The double-whammy of having the very significant carrot of CL qualification, plus no CL dropouts to contend with, means it's far too winnable for PL teams to disregard. It's quite telling that this year is only the second time we've ever had an all-English final in the history of the tournament. I would love to see the side-effects of binning the prize of CL qualification.
