  1. Past hour
  2. Vile is harsh but its pretty grim. Ive had to go there twice this year and there's an air of desperation about the place. The fucking pubs are all stuck in the 90s, everywhere seemed to have karaoke on fffs, the one place which had live music on had a cover band doing Oasis and Pulp. The mackems seem to think the place is in the midst of a renaissance when in reality there's the level of redevelopment going on every town was doing 25 years ago. That's how far behind they are. Also, the train station still stinks of piss. It really is a fucking real-time Beamish.

Don’t be silly, what do you think happens when the footballing worlds knows we have £200m in the bank. Think past the current NUFC tax.

Just imagine the PSR headroom we'd have if we sold Isak, Bruno and Tonali. The fanbase and club could be totally galvanized by the speculative PSR calculations that would be flying about.

Not for me - he is just too important
  6. Whilst those facts are true, the feelings he talks about have some merit. Stavely and Mehdrad leaving has left a vacuum at boardroom level communication and it has been difficult for Eales to fill that void given his pending departure. You then add on the Ashworth and Mitchell issues, combined with the pantomime of last summer's transfer window, and things do 'feel' off. As an institutional investor, PIF understandably is distanced from the day to day, but it is on them to fill that void and I think it's fair to say that the leadership and vision of the club does not 'feel' as inspiring since Stavely's departure, despite out best season in decades.
  7. I maybe, but it's business and unfortunately PSR seems to have priority on seemingly everything.
  8. Champions league and higher ceiling pull.

    You’re a strange person
  10. Not new but first time I have seen it - great watch. Can see the mutual respect of two greats of the game.
  11. If offered £200m for him.snap the bidders hands off
  12. We do accept it might be the case, but the difference is we're prepared to wait to actually see what happens. Rather than moan about things throughout the window in anticipation of things going badly. I'm really not sure what the benefit of that is.
  13. Today
  14. Believe the challenge comes when trying to sign proven premier league players for under 20million, who you have scouted from the age of 5 and who tend to play left wing (usually)....joking. We'll we ok, I think, wont we?

Young Shola is a fantastic prospect

Demba Ba was a fantastic upgrade tbf
  18. I honestly don’t think AC9’s career would have panned out the same way had he stayed with us. He was playing for the shirt and unplayable due to his physical attributes. Could have become a club legend imo. Shame that Ashley pushed him out.
  19. He would still choose us, we aren’t missing out on targets by having to wait until July imo.
  20. Well, IF they aren't doing anything. But people need to accept that might be the case. And it might not get better for the rest of the window. Or it will and some of us will owe the club an apology.

yes watching Shola was a privilege.
  22. Going to be a lot of disappointment when July 1st rolls around and the club still aren’t doing anything.
  23. Think it’s more to do with the June PSR period tbh. I just don’t think they want to go yet until July 1st. Rightly or wrongly
  24. I get the idea of wanting committed players etc, but on the other side of the coin, if high potential players are available for 12 mill who we can likely fleece for a lot more (ie 50 mill) a year later, we should be pushing for them. We can't lament the injustice of PSR while refusing to go after players like that that we can massively profit from.
  25. People had exactly the same attitude about the European Cup once upon a time. Same also goes for the actual World Cup. The sport has become the undisputed global game ever since Rous and the old colonial attitudes were booted out because FIFA have continually pushed its global appeal and spread. Hard to separate that reality from the level of corruption that has developed over the same time but it's absolutely true. A Club World Cup once every four years in principle is anything but a shit idea imo. Far more palatable to me than an expanded and bloated CL calendar or money-spinning friendlies between clubs from the same league that are already now the norm anyway.
