  1. Past hour
  2. I'm just worried we're being very rigid with who we're targeting and why. I think our transfer approach may actually be very imperfect, to put it politely, and some fans seem unable to bear the thought/reality of that.
  3. This is a great litmus test for how we scout mind, if he goes to Palace and tears it up we've dropped the ball. We know it's a position we are targeting and we know it's an age profile and budget we could work in. The fact we obviously aren't in for him means we have someone in mind we deem a better fit.
  4. Tbf, if Diomande was a top target for us then we would get him imo. He wouldn’t be choosing Palace over us.
  5. What she seemed to do in terms of player acquisition was leave her ego out of it. She wasn’t a director of football or a transfer “specialist” like supposedly Mitchell and Ashworth were - she had absolutely nothing to gain or lose by simply going out and getting the players that Howe said he needed. And fuck me, for the most part, it worked.
  6. Who is this Diomande? I've been informed no other non-cartel clubs are doing business, and it's ultra difficult to find players to improve your team.
  7. Has he not had a few bad injuries? I might be making this up like 😂
  8. Evan Ferguson anyone? He was tipped to be a world beater just a couple of years ago and is still only 20. Unless there is some context to his drop off I don't know of that is.

    Andy Carroll

The pettiness I felt through February and March when he didn't score for them was off the scale. To this day I'm glad he was a massive flop at Liverpool, I was so fucking deflated seeing the images of him on SSN signing for Liverpool. We saw some really good strikers in the years to come which somewhat softened the blow.

    Andy Carroll

Now you mention it, he has a bit of Dixie McNeil about him 😒
  11. Palace have agreed terms with Diomande, negotiating a fee with Sporting now.

    Andy Carroll

Made something of a legend of himself over there by all means. Glad to see it. Hope he doesn't join fucking Wrexham or something.

These are still living in 2012-2016. I don’t think they realise the scale of the change from us nor the PL. it’s going to be delightful trust me

Think he’s been overrated here. He looked a fish out of water in the PL imo. Not saying he won’t make it or be useful but Eddie absolutely right to use him as he has
  16. One of Gateshead’s finest. Loved Carroll when he was with us. Kind of centre forward I would have liked to be—similar physical attributes (and home town) but I couldn’t head the ball for toffee! despite my first Newcastle hero being (oddly perhaps…) Alan Gowling. I wonder where Carroll sits in list of best ever players from Gateshead? Probably a short list at the very top level, but others that spring to mind, Gascoigne, Waddle, Hunter, Stone, Hutchinson.

@JonBez comesock any chance of a thread (or long post) about your experiences of those times? Kind of an AMA vibe? Would be amazing to get a behind the scenes take on our best ever era
  18. Yes, no football during winter would be complete shit.
  19. Some absolute belters there mind!
  20. Did they appear in Cheers?

That Conrad Harder is worth a pickup. An Aldi Haaland.
  22. They're toying with bringing back the totty cam in this competition. We are so back.
  23. Igor Jesus and some other fella I can’t remember are off to Forest allegedly. Seems like they’re really tapping into the Brasilero. Interested to see how he gets on. Can’t help that think that the tournament is going to distort South American competitively further given the prize money. We’ve already seen more and more clubs from Brazil going deep in the Libertadores and Sudamericana as they have the financial advantage whereas back in the it was a little bit more of a lottery who’d make the final stages.

We're not PSG yet, we can't turn generational into several world class pieces on presumably massive wages. We'd turn a generational talent into powder we keep dry trying to avoid point deductions while our targets increase the distance between us and them. We can only close that gap by winning, and this guy will win us things.

These conquered motherfuckers can't throw stones anymore. We get more of their games than they do.
  26. Shit fake tournament and a shit idea tbh, it's just unworkable even if every federation were on the same page and schedule. Instead we're going to run some of the most talented players in the world into the ground so a few thousand people can watch them run around NFL stadiums during Midwestern summers.
