Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio has confirmed he decided to sell Stephane Sessegnon after being left unimpressed by the player's 'desire and attitude'. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11661/8923278/

"He came to me and said if you keep going with your manner I sent you up to the stand. I said to him 'if you want to complete a perfect job, you send me off.' And that is what he did. I will never invite the referee to send me off again."

1547: Sunderland 0-1 Arsenal Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio will not like this one bit. Defender Modibo Diakite trots over to Mesut Ozil as the players leave the pitch and wants to swap shirts after that first-half display. Ozil just laughs at him. I can't imagine that Arsene Wenger buys enough shirts for that to happen.

Try and keep it to disputing the argument you disagree with rather than the person making it lads. You can make exactly the same point without resorting to ad hominem.

Pah, loopholes. As if the likes of Dave and Andy leave loopholes. http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,19161.0.html

Such a happy time I was away at a scout jamboree when it was announced. Bought a copy of the Mirror that had "Shearer 9" on the back page as the headline. Cut it out and put it on the back of my toon top with safety pins. It was awesome.

One of the guys in court after the derby disorder 11. Sam Miller, 19, of Blue Bell Way, South Shields. Accused of holding a large piece of wood. Withheld his plea.

Thing is, ever flicker of glee at this guy exposing himself as a complete buffoon is tempered by the fact this knuggle-dragger managed to easily outmanouver the guy we have in charge of our lot. The stupider he looks, the worse it reflects on Pardew.

Freddy seemed to at least somewhat care what the fans thought of him, if only for his own ego, which meant supporter dissent had some chance of influence. Ashley doesn't give a fuck.

"I can't help it, I'm a racist" sounds like a number from some satirical broadway show in the vein of Avenue Q or The Book Of Mormon.

I think I've just discovered I'm colourblind.

Ben Arfa appears 'frustrating' sometimes because he's actually willing to push forward, try and beat men and put a ball in or have a dig rather than take the safe option of passing sideways or backwards. We need at least some players willing to risk failure.

Good player for us and model pro who'd walk into our current team. Though I do remember him sometimes getting a bit of lighthearted stick at the time. One away game in particular "Ah, Beresford, man!" became a kind of running gag catchphrase, epseically after a guy who'd been moaning about Beresford most of the game shouted it after Barton lost the ball (any error thereafter by any player being greeted with "Howay man Beresford, not again!"). Don't think anyone actually thought he wasn't a good player, just in a very strong squad he had a reputation for dropping the odd clanger amongst some people.
