There are valid points being made about problems and potential problems we have at the moment. But no doubt Sam can see those issues as well. Until he's consistantly shown himself to have a Roeder-style inability to see what everyone else in the ground can see is the reason we aren't making chances, or a Souness style refusal to make changes which will rectify it, it's absurd to look at one performance, one formation, one set of tactics against one type of club with one selection of players and say the entire season is a write off because this is how it is and this is how it always will be.

It's quite a dangerous precedent to set like - which is one of the reasons the FA stand up for refs even when they're completely in the wrong. If you start suspending referees each time they get a decision wrong which changes the outcome of a match then we're not going to have anyone left to referee the games. Of course this is less of a problem than it could be, because there is no chance in fucking hell that he would have been suspended for giving the exact same decision against Wigan or Bolton.

He's good cover, nothing more. Wouldn't want him in for any long period of time but he's better than most second choice keepers and I'm perfectly happy with him being our back up. Had me touching cloth with some of those daisy cutter goal kicks though.

Some strange goings on in their programme apparently - firstly the league table showed them second top without the -15 points. The squad number announcements page showed the squad numbers 13, 14, -15, 16, 17 and there was a "-15" page between pages 14 and 16. My guess would be that the league table was a result of incompetance and the hidden "-15s" the work of some mickey taking wag at the printers.

At 4:50 the queues at the east stand were fucking massive where I was trying to get in, never seen them that big. Some 13 year old lass in a stewards jacket was trying to get people to move into other queues that might have been slightly shorter. But then that was mostly because there wasn't enough room to join the queue.

Hmm. We lacked any real drive from midfield and didn't get forwards enough. Hopefully Barton's return will help that.
