Bit of both really. http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thefootballtacticsblog/2011/10/newcastle_profit_from_pardews.html

Had no idea they'd signed Alderweireld.

I lost a load on the 3 o'clocks and I've managed to get it all back with interest on the European games since. I'm absolutely hopeless at 3 on a Saturday, there's too much choice and I can't handle it.

Just equalised.

Internationals are a pure money drain.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34162999 How utterly pointless.

Annoyed with myself that I didn't go with my gut and pick Iceland to win instead of just to score.
-
Indeed. Iceland are nearly evens just to score on 365 (possibly even better elsewhere) which, considering they're top of the group and top scorers, is extremely generous.

Last season is relevant imo. We're trying to scrub out 3-4 years of mis-management, low confidence & poor tactics. West Ham's situation is different to our own. Our confidence and the players' trust in one another has most likely had to be very carefully managed for the opening fixtures. FFS man. People are acting as if Steve McClaren has time travelled into 1945 Birkenau and is now trying to nurture a bunch of malnourished and traumatised victims of war back to health and onto a football field. As if West Ham's players have had it loads better having spent the last five years listening to Fat Sam's Fat Head barking at them through a megaphone.

Does your free season ticket work? It's been like this for ages, increasingly so all the time. Whenever we play one of the better sides, home or away, the crowd goes home absolutely buzzing if we do anything other than get absolutely obliterated. It used to be just the top couple of sides in the division. Now if we play Swansea City and don't get f***ed up the arse, it's treated as a moral victory. Meanwhile West Ham have already won away at Liverpool and Arsenal. As a support, we write these games off and are delighted to do so. One of the many reasons I can't be f***ed with it any more. I personally thought the reception was strange, it seemed as a "United front" aka you can give us 6,000 cards but we'll still stick together sort of reception imo. Regards West Ham - they did get hammered by Arsenal in the game that they won, Arsenal just couldn't score, they also had 11 men. I'd fancy our chances against Liverpool, I don't rate them at all - a bang average side. A lot of our younger support are in with what you said, as to be fair all they are used to is see us on our knees/getting thumped. As I've said before, four years of Pardew is not going to be fixed in four games (both on/off the pitch) - will be very interested to see how we are doing after 10 games. West Ham were just an example. I could have mentioned Swansea turning over Man United today, Palace at Chelsea, etc etc. Not saying we never win these games, but there's certainly no expectation of it, even when the opposition aren't even much cop. The crowd are happy to make up the numbers. We've lost at home to Arsenal by the odd goal in each of the last four seasons and the reaction is always the same - it's Arsenal who nobody ever beats at home so it's all good. When did we last beat them at home, 1-0 when Nobby scored? That should be embarrassing but nobody gives a fuck. We could lose 1-0 at home to any one of Man United/City/Arsenal/Chelsea/Liverpool/Spurs/Everton/Southampton/Swansea and the crowd will go home fairly satisfied that we didn't concede half a dozen.

All the guests must be desperate for one of Palace's players to contract cancer so Pardew can tell him to fuck off. Fucking love it when Super Al does that shit.

I think it was Cabaye's last kick at West Ham.

One of my mates from work, who has had a season ticket at various points in time, went to the 2-2 in the San Siro. When chatting to another mate in the office about the game years later, one comment he made was "Was Shearer playing in that game?" Some posters on here would be staggered by the knowledge, or lack of it, of the club by people who go regularly. That's their own club as well, not one in Belgium or Holland.

I've watched Anderlecht, PSV and Marseille several times in the last 12 months when I've had money on them and I couldn't have picked any of the players out of a line up. The idea that 90% of the supporters in SJP on an average matchday could do so is absolutely laughable. Frankly I'd be amazed if 5% could.

The Premier League was much more exciting and interesting before everyone decided your central midfielders need to be dull as dishwater.

Have Stabaek got a strong team out, Kaiz?

That was my school he went to.

Mine's in now.
