I don't think Macbeth has posted in this thread yet... Gah! Hot potato, orchestra stalls, Puck will make amends! AIEEE!

What side of the street Martins parks his car should not even be an issue in this debate. I don't see how it could possibly matter.
-
We can still catch Chelsea.

Quote from Glenn on BBC site. *shudders* Keep the faith my boy. I don't see that there is anything to fear. It's a useless emotion - I don't see why human beings suffer from it.

The tie is still there to be won or lost for both sides, but as long as we keep it tight and use the threat of pace on the break to keep you from applying constant pressure, we should make it. May the best team win, but forgive me for not wishing you too much luck. All the best in the Eredivisie though.

Depends on the deal. £20 million? Disapointed. Swapsies with Carr? Delighted. 40/60 or 70/30, or there or there abouts. Money seems to grab people, no matter the climate, no matter the manager, no matter the seemingly inherent inability to win. Just ask Shepherd. Everybody wants to come to us.

Would be fine by me to see a bit more of safc, good poster.

Good to see him continuing. I thought he would be straight back to his media work but he seems to have found his appetite again. Hell, maybe if he is not deemed past it and we are not riding as high as we might, he could be persuaded to try his hand over here in the Premiership. Go on, would be worth putting a few grand on that. /I know some Asian businessmen who could give you some great odds.

Ha, a cracker of a quote from Roeder. He sounds like Ming the Merciless.
-
For a Troll, you are acting with remarkable sanity.
-
Thank goodness Roeder doesn't like talking about other managers players eh? Oh.
-
tbh sometimes it does look like he's not trying hard enough (away from home), but most of the time its due to the team not creating enough chances for him. That dosent make him an "arrogant" player though and i fail to see any evidence to back gallowgate's claims. Agreed. Some fans (rarely supporters) like to pin this kind of crap on players, sadly inculuding our own, and with little or no evidence. Fair play to them, I assume it gives them a warm glow that someone, however nonsensicle, cannot be as rabid to 'the cause' as themselves.

Enough from you. I know we are going to win end of. You heard it here first. Spurs are nothing compared to us, we just fkn muck it up sometimes but we are 5 times the team spurs are. If we didn't have injuries I assure you we would be sitting 5th in a piss poor premiership. We are 6pts off 6th and we had a shocking year of football. Spurs arguably had the better result on Thursday.

Sorry, been down the pub. Have I missed the post where NE5 addresses the actual topic?

I demand the return of general football chat.

The nicknames given to St James' - "Heaven, The Castle or Vertigo" ?

Nope, nope and nope. My mum has been known to call it an 'abomination' on occasion, but I doubt that'll catch on either. -
One other thing about Roeder's transfer policy which p*sses me off

Maybe he didn't feel Campbell would sufficiently embiggen the squad... -

If the Guardian got it right and we were contacted first then the answer would be no. He would have been offered at his full wage and then when he got the no answer it would have been "Fine I'll play in Italy or Spain then." As stated before Campbell (and his agent) thought that he had many options before he eventually ended up at Pompey... which leads to another point: If he was such a "common sense option" why didn't he have more opportunities available? He was most likely seen as an expnsive risk by more managers than Roeder... some of them may have even been good ones. I can't believe I am in a position forced to defend Roeder (whom I was never very happy about) but here I am. I think you are being a tad unfair here. Campbell played less matched because of his psychological issues as stated before and Woodgate because he was injured. Huth, on the otherhand, was not playing first team football, but he was in fact still playing reserve football and was fit both physically and psychologically. I see a big difference in Woodgate v Huth v Campbell in the 05-06 season. All I am pointing out is that we were simply were not interested. In a summer where we were clearly lacking in targets, to dismiss Campbell completely because he asked us first and for high wages seems a tad over the top. Surely it would have been more sensible to say 'not a chance on those wages but if you cannot find a better deal we would be receptive to any further negotiations' but obviously we had no interest in him at all. As it turns out, that was a mistake, as was Shepherd and Roeders conflicting views on Woodgate and Huth and the resulting failure to sign any of them. Hindsight? Yes. But that does not save him from the criticism which esentially boils down to his inability to strengthen the squad significantly. -

So we couldn't bargain him down by offering him higher profile first team football on the same wages as the best offered elsewhere? Bollocks, of course we could if were interested. Nope, Roeder had already given a very cromulent arguement that we were not interested because of the lack of football he had played. The same arguement he made for Woodgate it would seem, though not one used for his main target Huth obviously (who has since played considerably less games than either of them). -
Too old. Our summer transfer policy has already been outlined by Roeder as targeting under 25s (that would seem to discount Bridge too unless he is talking utter balls again).

Jesus wept. At least icemanblue was joking.
