http://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/sport/football/newcastle-utd/vurnon-anita-promised-bigger-role-at-nufc-1-5693828'd To be handed a bigger role next season apparently. I'd hope so, seems like he was bought for the hell of it last year and we had no idea where we wanted him to play. Despite being a bit too lightweight the way he quickly moves the ball around is fantastic. Prone to some silly passes this year but only at a time when the rest of the team was also uber turd. A weird one, he should replace Tiote but i don't see him starting ahead of Sissoko or Cabaye.

The most frustrating thing is that everyone can see it except the fools that make the decisions or the media that licks their asses. Yes we could give Pardew next season but we all know that we will be bottom half come december and we will end up sacking him. Why waste the perfect opportunity when decent managers are available and have time to plan for next season. Frustrating doesnt even cover it.

There is always hope... It's just in this case it's at every other club in the premier league but us.

I fully expect us to bid 12m again and try to force liverpools hand. Winner for us if we get bony instead plus get some of the 15m from west ham via our sell on clause. -
If so, should be a sticky up top of the board.

Well we as fans identified the problem and called for it over a year ago now..maybe Pardew will pick up on it.. he won't change anything but maybe he will pick up on it. He is at his best as a DM, he can't shoot, he can't make forays forwards particularly well and is not the box to box player he has been pushed into being this year. If he keeps it simple and does what he is best at he could once again be very valuable to us. However right now it looks like his head is all over the place on the pitch and we haven't seen half the player that we did in his first year. Maybe that's because of the positional changes and mentality swap, or maybe he just really wasn't as good as he showed in his first year for us. On paper we should have a bloody beast of a midfield, especially if we add a decent right winger.

I don't think we have been nearly visibly or vocally loud enough to rock Mikes decision. Not that he always listens but the press are under the impression there is only a small section of fans upset. Granted there is by now a certain percentage of fans that have been trodden down hard enough on they just don't air their opinions about management.

Don't agree on the Hughton hoofball we were playing some good fluid attacking football previous to his sacking. Was certainly far from hoofball every game. We actually had someone that posed attacking threat through the centre of midfield. That seems like a long time ago. -
Agree only because we will keep Pardew. He will without a doubt be interested. The squad here has so much potential, he would thrive on the passion of the area and support like Liverpool and he wants to stay and take a management project in England. There are few options that will be open to him if that is his true desire. Benitez is close to realistic imo. Mourinho is not.
-
Its not just the tactical uselessness, in addition to not getting us to gel as a unit over two years he clearly can't motivate the players. Tactics is half the battle, motivation is the other, yes there are plenty of other facets to management but Pardew seems incapable of doing the two most important. That said I think off the pitch up until just before Christmas we seemed to be very united as a squad..off the pitch. Something went way off the rails this year to the point that there is a division in the squad and combined with everything else Pardews position should be untenable. I can see some people saying he should have the next season and the third year is always the year to take off in any job. However he has shown next to nothing that indicates he can take us to where we want to be long term, we can give him next year but I am convinced he won't last til Christmas. Why gamble when there are far superior management options available now that could truly take us forward.

Can't see it happening til after their big meeting. Then they will pitch the questions to Derek/mike/pardew. Doubt they will answer anything previous. Probably see the results in another week.
-
Given Pardews insistence on sticking with last years gameplan, maybe it's just rehashing that arsenal game half time team talk regardless of it's relevance. Players are just plain confused every half time, pards knows he hit a winner!
-
We had belief, confidence and a never say die attitude. None of this giving up in the second half, we fought tooth and nail until the final whistle. Wasn't always pretty and we had a few cloggers but I preferred it to the dross we serve up these days. Plus Hughton was a genuine, decent bloke. This, we had just started to click on the pitch and had a great spirit off it. Downside was from all reports the players had too much power and influence on the team and Hughton's decisions. We haven't looked more threatening attacking wise since then that much is for sure. We did briefly tighten up at the back better though.

Absolutely scandalous if we arent looking into replacing Pardew with Benitez. Rafa wants to stay in the premiership and he is looking for a project, he likely wont go to Everton given his Liverpool links. We constantly talk about how we are frugal with our spending but if the opportunity comes along to get a fantastic player then we will look at it. We have to be doing the same with Benitez. That said if the worst happens, which is looking increasingly likely..what can be done to help the team next season with Pardew still here. Will adding another coach be enough? Who realistically are we going to bring on board, David Platt?

....We must have saved up enough for one splurge! -
Apparently just chilling with all the other players didn't look like a player leaving. Fingers crossed!

Bloody great today, love his forays forward. Clearly completely knackered so forgive the substitution, think Tiote could have gone first though. He will be fantastic for us next year, hopefully with Colo alongside him.

I thought it was a good tackle tbh, clearly played the ball. Definitely played the ball. Good tackle IMO It was needless when he could have stayed on his feet. Coming from behind the best case scenario was giving away a throw or corner. -
