Will be delighted if we can get Geremi and Beye in over the next couple of days. Beye, Geremi, Solano, Milner, Dyer... solid Right side. Just need a couple to add to the Left Side.

Regardless of Owen or Martins leaving im convinced we will bring another player in that can play up front. Carroll is being loaned out, Viduka is likely to miss the start of the season and an injury to martins or Owen would put the pressure on. As Ive mentioned before will either be: -A cheap signing that can play as backup, IE Ritgers -A loan signing - or a player that can slot into the team somewhere else other than upfront, IE Gudjohnsen, Babel, Giuly, Diouf etc..
-
Wouldnt be a bad signing, similar to distin. Fancied a move here a few seasons ago but Everton put the blockers on it, plus we didnt want to pay alot of money for him. Severely doubt the Toffee's will accept much less than the 7m they quoted us last time if not more. Also doubt we are even interested. Think there are better options out there tbh, but wouldnt be hugely dissapointed if it was true.
-
not convinced we are even interested in him. Smells more like an Agent wanting his player to go to Celtic and trying to get Celtic to get things moving. We need another player for backup though, especially if carroll goes on loan.

Kuyt and Torres would be quality, provided the former is settled enough to use the chances he gets properly next season. If Kuyt had half of his chances on target he would have won the golden boot this year twice over!

Canadian. Died In A Fight? Daddy is a freak?

Cant really see where dyer fits into the side, especially if Beye and Geremi end up here next week. SA has already praised Milner and doesnt think of him ala Souness as a striker. At the same time he made a point of meeting with him to make sure he was staying. Looked useful the first few months after his return, wont be sad if he leaves though.

IF Owen/Martins or both leave, they will be replaced with similar players. As per the players mentioned, Pace in our team isnt a problem. Brains and commitment can be.
-
If we could take anyone in a deal for Martins it would be Justin Hoyte for me. Will be nice if Beye and Geremi sign up next week. A LB/LWB is the main cause for concern, we will all breath a little easier after the end of next week IMO.

But bents already gone to spurs.

like touched upon once or twice! This whole thing doesnt make much sense. They dont want to sell Edmilson, he's injured, why the hell would they need to fly over there to do anything other than get him to sign. Would we really need to get in this early to get his signature? Surely just a big smokescreen? Clearly getting Rijkaard to work under Lee Clark as reserve coach.

Its official. They will be no Dabo/Barton repeats here.. Well if there is Davey boy is running: http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?HLID=474413&CPID=8&title=Rozehnal:+Big+Sam's+the+man&lid=&channel=Football_Home&f=rss&clid=4

Mad price Spuds linked to SWP's and Diarra aswell? Id echo JS's comments really. Alot of money but I think will be worth it. Offers them the pace of defoe but with the power and great aerial prowess. Wouldnt mind Defoe as a replacement for Owen or Martins, but would prefer Anelka classier version of bent, might not score as many goals though.

Dont understand how Hamann could be described as anything other than a good signing. Albeit I guess you could point to his Judas nature. He was a great player who played excellently for us, whilst we would have rather kept him we made a tidy profit on him.. Success if you ask me. Bellamy and Robert have both given us as much back as we have paid for them in Goals, assists and memories.

Our transfer activity has barely started and the summer is already the best I can remember in years. Im also pretty excited and confident some "pleasant" transfer suprises will be thrust upon us before the window closes! Although like O.N. I remember being excited the year Kluivert signed! With all the off field activity this summer has already surpassed that. Going back further reminds me of the year we signed Barton, Hislop and Sir Les. Everything is renewed and I think so much is going on its like a hit to every part of the system, we are in an excitable meltdown! Even the impending departure of Owen and Martins, whilst being hugely dissapointing will be completely different, as I actually have the faith we will replace them. Im sure its much the same if your a Villa, West ham, Man city or even Birmingham/pompey fan this summer the whole league is going through a money boom. Whilst most of the takeovers will cancel each other out Im confident we are one of the only sides doing thing correctly, with Allardyce and Ashley & Co. in charge I feel my trust isnt misplaced this time! Oh but how we have been wrong in the past. But do you refuse to get on the rollercoaster just because the fun ride wont last forever?

Who the f*** voted? Bloody Hell http://www.pubsnewcastle.co.uk/BestBarNone.html Apparently the best three "bars" in Newcastle are Shearer's, the Quilted Camel and Yates's. bluelaugh.gif Not a f****** PATCH on the Union Rooms... Union Rooms is s****. Bouncers and bar staff ID you constantly, place stinks of piss, drinks taste like piss and generally the place reminds me of piss. Go round the corner to O'Neill's. So you don't like it then? No he is just severely Urophobic.

Will be interesting to see what tmrw brings. More than likely a straight denial they are even in Barcelona! Ive said before Gudjohnsen would be an ideal signing, would be the missing link in midfield, his creativeness is fantastic. He would be great in midfield or up top. As a straight replacement for Owen or Martins its not so ideal, we need pace upfront. With the uncertainty surrounding our pacey ponces and viduka likely to miss the start of the season I think Ideally we will bring someone else in upfront anyways that can fit in elsewhere in the team. Someone like Giuly, Babel, Diouf or Gudjohnsen could command a place in our team in several positions and cover the absences of Viduka/Duff. Theres plenty of players we could be after at Barca though as mentioned: Gudjohnsen, Saviola, Giuly, Thiago Motta.. whilst unlikely now Edmilson. Maybe more?

Reading hold Shorey and Lita talks. NUFC want Shorey Though?
toontownman replied to Kev's topic in Football
thanks for the heads up on second season syndrome. Ive seen more of Baines than Shorey so was interested to see. Its easy to get swayed by the odd wonder goal from Baines, I thought he was actually excellent the past couple of weeks defensively, but it was just the U21's. Wouldnt be unhappy at getting either. Ideally we need a couple of players in that can play LB though. -
Wenger reportedly wants Oba for 13 million according to Sun.
toontownman replied to madras's topic in Football
If I was a player I would obviously want to have Wenger as my manager. I believe as Martins has said, he is happy here, his agent and advisors however will undoubtedly want him to go elsewhere. Arsene is the biggest pulling factor, of course CL is aswell. Potentially with the takeover and Big Sams arrival players should be excited about the clubs future. If he wants out and we have to sell him, Martins apparently would prefer a move abroad, IE Juve rather than Arsenal. This would make it alot easier with the £13m -

And so it begins.... True or not Wenger was always going to bid for Martins. Im not going to debate Martins the player for us. Im firmly in the Pro-Martins camp, and like others on here have repeatedly smashed my head against the wall reasoning with people of the other persuasion. Fact is, its comes down to what the player wants. Less than a couple of weeks ago he came out committing to us, he has to stand by that statement now. If he doesnt he doesnt, I dont want anyone here thats looking for a move somewhere else, Martins, Owen steven Taylor it doesnt matter who if they want to leave then let them. Martins and Owen leaving will stuff up our plans but thats football, and we will just have to suck it up and take it. Anelka and Saviola would be a nice way of easing the pain. -
Dont think Wigan will be that bad next season, can see them scraping through. Sunderland, Derby, Fulham and birmingham are likely to keep them afloat. 1.Chelsea 2.Manure 3.Arsenal 4.Liverpool 5.Spurs 6. Newcastle 7.West Ham 8.Portsmouth 9. Man City 10. Villa 11. Everton 12. Blackburn 13. Boro 14. Bolton 15. Wigan 16. Scum 17. Reading 18. Birmingham 19. Fulham 20. Derby I originally put us a couple of places lower, but given the signings we have made, are likely to, plus the fact we may even splash out after we have a full squad gave me renewed optimism.
