  1. They reported the rumour, but did they ever claim it was happening based on there own sources? It probably won't happen, but I'd be suprised if the deal wasn't being discussed between NUFC/Barca and Deco at the moment. Is all I could find searching.. Here we go with Figo? Real Madrid midfielder Luis Figo could be a surprise arrival as negotiations with the Portuguese star suggest some cause for optimism. The man who cost Real £37m when he was signed from Barcelona five years ago may come to Tyneside on a similar contract to the one that saw former Barca colleague Patrick Kluivert arrive last summer. Figo is apparently keen on the deal and a year contract with two exercisable one year options may suit both parties. Amid the stuff and nonsense overflowing this weekend, apparently this story has some substance. http://www.soccer24-7.com/forum/showthread.php?t=79532 So it was definitely not the same kind of story as with Deco then. Which is encouraging.. Yeah they are more commital on this story at least. Certainly makes the work days pass faster.
  2. Thought Tord Grip was going to be number two?

  4. Didnt .com jump all over the Figo rumours aswell? I will stick in camp Hunter on this one. Mainly because im a sceptical sod.
  5. Supertoons on the ball with this one. If anything was happening we would fly over there. He wouldnt be in good shape to play in two days if he is flying over here and back again.
  6. Signing for Sunderland then?
  7. Unproven in the premiership. Babel will be deployed on one of the wings rather than a striker Id imagine. Looks like they are holding out for more like 13m for him though, crazy compared to what we were bidding just in January. You would think he had finished top scorer and player of the World Cup, rather than decent in the U21's European Championships.
  8. Re-hash of the Norwegian article no doubt. He seems pretty desperate though. http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=476004&CPID=8&clid=4&lid=&title=Hangeland+happy+at+FCK
  9. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=467279&in_page_id=1779 Manchester Evening News picked the story up aswell, but they arent any more reliable than the Sun to be fair. We should go for Baines AS WELL as Heinze! Baines still has much to learn, and Heinze is as comfortable in the Centre as out wide, although last seasons efforts were dodgy at best.
  10. Heinze is the perfect signing if we can get him. Like Beye would slot in well in Fullback or Centre back. Wouldnt be suprised if we were interested, but would be suprised if we managed to sign him.
  11. not convinced, lets not forget we had signed Figo not so long ago (around this time) but its a nice thought to consider.
  12. Suprised no one is showing the bolton game on the opening day.
  13. some people just arent cut out for International football, simple as.
  14. Fact is, if we are going for a big name/statement signing it will have to be someone like Raul or Deco on the way down. Are we likely to attract a big name at the top of their game or on the way up? It kind of defeats the purpose of making a statement, as signing the latter is the only one that will turn the heads of the world. But I cant see that happening with the position we are in now.
  15. Thought Scholes was only 28 when he quit. Shame for Carragher, but some players just arent cut out for International football in the way they are club football. Carragher has been immense for Liverpool for years, has always looked shaky for England and never completely impressed. Like wise Andy Cole and dare I say Frank Lampard. Good news for Taylor and up and coming younguns if true.
  16. Looks like he's off to Juve.......doubt he will be able to displace Boum though Yeah big shame, especially at the price they are getting him for £6.7m apparently. http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=475621&CPID=21&clid=128&lid=10&title=Juve+strike+Andrade+deal
  17. Not good enough for where we want to be... Ok, kidding. Good news. Milner is a model pro in the Speed school of footballers. His versatility and hard work has made him a staple of our team. He has alot to learn, his crossing isnt as poor as people make out, but he has the determination and time on his side to do it. Will crave the competition Geremi brings, which gives us further options down the right for Home and Away.
  18. Ranieri has the like-a-bility factor, but Sven has the better CV and rep as a manager surely. Always thought Sven is a far superior coach. Juve think differently mind.
  19. We all hate dirty Leeds, but its a bit much now. Hope we are never put in the same position and they can get some stability back. Hope Forest tonk them in the league this year mind.
  20. Must be a beach session coming up. Our start to the season just wouldnt be same without it. Or maybe thats the point.
  21. Well at least they had all the bases covered..

    Queudrue?

Think it gives us the chance to put that pressure on now Mort has come out and said he will be backed. Quite plausible he was working on a tight budget whilst the takeover was going on. Im happy to work on the cheap to get the squad solid. But now we know the money is there, we should be buying quality to line that aswell. Im sure we will.
