Not sure really? feel a bit wierd like... Probably the pints last night. That was the way I saw it, outfought and out abilitied for the whole 90 mins, weak is the word. Jonas, Hatem and perhaps Krul were the only ones who actually merited being on the pitch

I wended up watching the game in the pub last night, started off early in the day with some blind optimism that we might actually get something from the game, until any positive thoughts were ripped apart when the news that Cabaye had been pulled an hour before the match. Arsenal and PSG or whoever couldn't have found a better time to launch a bid eh? I always knew in the back of my mind that we would get torn to shreds by their attack, and tbh, they really did look slick and hungry last night... Anyway, heres my points ranking for the game: Krul (7) - He actually played pretty well but shipping 4 goals... oh well Debuchy (4) - I really cannot seee what this boy has, late tackles, easily turned, no pace...ffs! Saylor (5) - The defense was all over the place and he was at his stupid handball antics before he was sent off. Liability tbh. What the hell happened when Silva ghosted into miles of space for the first goal. Colo (7) - Colo played reasonably well, not helped by the clowns either side of him though. Again was caught for pace a couple of times and nearly gave an early penner. Mapou (5) - Beaten time and time again, gives too many loose balls away, needs pace to help recover from dodgy positioning. Looked panicky every time he was on the ball. Jonas (7) - Looked a decent outlet all night, tracked back well and put in a shift. Don't understand the amount of stick he gets. Ben Arfa (8) - Only player who looked on the same level as the opposition, tracked back a lot although he hasn't a clue how to tackle or cover the pass... Tiote (5) - Passing was crap and he didn't really get started. Yaya and fernandinho really showed them how to play. Sissoko (4) - For the size of the guy you would think he could handle himslef both on ground and in air, easily pushed off the ball and didn't win a header all night. his runs into space are ok but he was really lacking defensively especially when needed to track the runners, caught out a few times and left defense wide open. Not impressed at all! Gouffran (7) - Tried his best all night, just doesn't quite have the technical stuff to make a difference in the way HBA does. Cisse (3) - I don't think I've seen a player so easily handled as he was last night, looked really weak and was pushed off the ball every time. might be ramadan or something but not working at moment and doesn't suit Pardews hoof ball... Positives: We seem to want to pass the ball about a bit more, at least early on we did! We played the best team in the league by far. Citeh: They looked top nothc all over the park, really hungry for the win and challlenged every ball with 100%, even saw Silva win a few balls from Debuchy because he was more focused and up for it. I can only dream.... Pardew: I wish he would grow a pair of balls! Both pre and post match he didn't say anything near positive and anyone would take a swipe at them above for lack of activity and for the cabaye shiiite....

Would rather see Marveaux at left hand side, but gouffran may offer a little more backtracking against Navas.... -

Jonas has a niggle and won't be risked. You can't play a kid away at Man City for his debut!! Mapou played solidly at left back last year so he is leading candidate for left back. I am more intrigued to see who will be in front of the left back: Marv, Gouff or Sammeobi??? Here's my team based on Pards' pragmatic (defensive) approach: --------------------Krul------------------- Debuchy----Taylor-----Colo------Mapou -----------Tiote-------Cabaye----------- --Hatem--------Sissoko------Gouffy--- ---------------Cisse------------------ Bench: Elliot, Anita, Marveux, Dummet, Shola, Sammy, Williamson -
I think Cabaye is being primed to be sold and therefore do not count him in my systems. I would play a 433 and 451, interchanging during the game to find the best options. 433 --------------Krul------------------- Debuchy---MYM---Colo---Santon --------------Tiote---------------- ------Sissoko------Marveux--- ---BenArfa----Cisse-------Reme-- Both fullbacks know how to push on, to do so we need some good covering by the midfield three so that gaps don't appear if countered. I don't think we have any real classical wingers so it doesn't make sense to me to play any sort of 442.

Motherwell 2 - 4 Newcastle United (FT) Post game euphoria from pg 19
buzza replied to bowlingcrofty's topic in Football
Anybody who was there capable of telling us what the formation was and what the styñe of play was in both 1st and 2nd half? Big ask but would be nice... -
AYE, MINGIN... (both - in different ways!)
-
Banarnia more like with this troop of clowns managing us...
-
Relax! didn't literally mean we DO love him, nice turn of phrase to add reason & depth to the comments... not more/less
-
He does come across as a smug charlie most of the time, i wouldn't mind this if I thought he was capable of managing our team (i don't). Adding a bit of perspective to the blog and the newspaper cuttings, he is here to manage newcastle and to do that to a certain level of competance not to be judged on his personality or persona, he is not doing, in my opinion, the former... And should have been sacked for such. i think we will do OK this year in spite of Pardew at the realm, a lot of players will want to shine for the WC and this will drag us through some of his shiite coaching and tactics... oh well...
-
My thoughts on Darren Bent are that he would offer a hell of a lot more up front in comparison with Shola. people moaning about that he offers nowt else but prowess on putting them in the back of the net, well shola on a good day has problems holding the ball up and playing in other players, he's a championship footballer but we all love him cos' he gives his all and he's one of us... I am sure bent can pass to a team mate and can hold a ball up when needed to, what we are crying out for is someone to put the ball in the back of the net... 2+2 = 4

If we had a choice between monkey's heid and kinnear, I know which one i'd choose... Like everyone's saying, decent bloke, talks well and quite well respected, a huge contrast with the class A cretin!
-
best players in best positions.... Pards? just to name a few of his terry f***wit out of position gaffes: hatem jonas anita cabaye cisse gouff marv **
-
I think that a 433 would suit us best and get all three of Tiote/cabaye/Moussa offering us a ver solid middle of the park. i would be tempted to put Mbiwa at left back (looked good and attacking) and debuchy at right back to offer the width we need going forward, add hatem and goof/marv either side of Cisse and we have a team, that if coached correctly, we can destroy teams... -------------------Krul--------------------- ------------Taylor----.--Colo------------- Debuchy---------------------------Mbiwa ---------cabaye---Tiote---Sissoko----- -----Hatem-------Cisse-------Marveaux

Que sera, sera whatever will be, will be we're down inevitably with Joe kinnear

here it is: More football factory than Tyneside factory: Circus back in town as Joe Kinnear returns to Newcastle United Martin Hardy “Which one?” That was how the circus opened in October 2008. That was how Joe Kinnear made sure he would never be forgotten as a Newcastle United manager, no matter how good or bad a job he did, in the Newcastle media room at the club's Benton training ground, except it was a media room then only in that the media sat in it and it was a room. In truth, it was three leather settees positioned haphazardly, the whirring of a snack machine a reminder that journalists were not originally supposed to be there. Kinnear was unhappy with the coverage of his first day as Newcastle manager; it is worth remembering that it was as big as a surprise back then as it is now. Journalists were bemused that he had not cancelled the players’ day off to meet his squad. Players who, let’s not forget, were doing their best to get the club relegated from the Premier League, as, it appeared, was the owner. Television cameras were for once not allowed into that small room, tucked away on the very end of the training facility. Kinnear kept the journalists waiting two hours. Two hours is a long time in the company of other football writers, but it was worth it. Oh, it was worth it all right. No one will forget Joe Kinnear. How could you? Kinnear, with his greying, curly hair slicked back at the sides, bowled up – and he really did bowl up – and stood in the middle of that room. He could have been Danny Dyer’s old man. More Football Factory than Tyneside factory. His words have gone down in football folklore. The first words he spoke to the local press as Newcastle manager – “Which one?” – was to discover which player had been the most “out of order”. The first response he made was, “You’re a c**t.” Kinnear swore 52 times. It was theatrical gold. He gave and he got. He was 61 years old then. He had the hands of a man who has spent a life working with heavy machinery and the gnarled right finger pointed at those who had provoked the most ire. The left index finger and thumb held a bit of paper with names on it and the rage was such that the paper shook in his hand. Occasionally his voice trembled. Kinnear produced a press conference the likes of which I do not expect to witness for the rest of my career. How could you forget that? It is easier to forget the miserable record as a manager that followed. It appears Newcastle’s owner, Mike Ashley has, and in that there should be no real surprise. Newcastle had not been in the headlines for 26 hours (when a Yohan Cabaye link with Monaco had been denied, though that transfer seems more likely now). Twenty-six hours is a long time in Ashley’s world. So, on a rare, hazy and relaxed Sunday afternoon, Tyneside had another meteor dropped into its heart. It is 12 months since Graham Carr, the Newcastle chief scout, signed an eight-year contract. Three months later, Alan Pardew (left) and his back-room staff did the same. Yesterday afternoon they became subplots in the latest bizarre machinations of Ashley. Kinnear gave an interview yesterday as the new director of football of Newcastle United, admitting he had signed a three-year deal. He did not swear. More importantly, he did not sound like the director of football of Newcastle United. He sounded like the manager. “I’ve been very fortunate in my life as a manager,” he said. “I’ve been manager of the year three times and I’ve had a great football career so I think I’m ideal for this situation. “I’ve been waiting for the opportunity to come back. I’ve turned down managerial jobs in the lower leagues, because I felt I’d gone past that and I wanted to get my teeth into something in the Premier League.” Kinnear sounded like the manager of Newcastle United because he is the manager of Newcastle-in-waiting. Only something special can save Alan Pardew now and, say what you want, but he deserves better than this. Kinnear’s role is officially as a scout, but Carr will not let go of that role. Kinnear will also be a visible presence at the training ground. Ashley has undermined Pardew’s power with yesterday’s decision (and it is Ashley’s decision), but in doing so he has once more undermined his own reputation. In 12 months there has been another sea change in how to run a football club, and now a change to the group of people that were handed contracts until 2020 last year. Kinnear impressed no more yesterday in his new role as scout-cum-director of football than he did at the start of his reign as Newcastle manager. He again tried to popularise the myth that he had had problems because he was not from the North-east. “I didn’t realise Geordies are Geordies,” said the director of football at Newcastle United yesterday. Sometimes you cannot make this stuff up. “Would they object to someone who is Spanish?” he asked. Newcastle fans objected to the appointment of Kinnear because his record was poor and he had been out of the game for four years since his last job in football, at Nottingham Forest, where he left the club 22nd in the Championship. He said yesterday: “My record speaks for itself.” Let’s listen. He was forced to leave Newcastle as manager in 2009 because he was rushed to hospital before an away game at West Bromwich Albion. He underwent heart surgery. For the record, Kinnear’s record was, on average, two wins from every 10 games. The circus, once more, is back in town.

decent summary of the whole charade here: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/more-football-factory-than-tyneside-factory-circus-back-in-town-as-joe-kinnear-returns-to-newcastle-united-8661022.html

The only sensible take on this is that Ashley is using that fukcwit as a tool (pun or not?) to push Pardew over the edge. We know he has very little dignity but bringing in Joe "fukcing" Kinnear would test the resolve of anybody, what worries me is that both of them are so thick they may not worry at all. It may turn out to be a very sublime piece of business from fatboy if Pards does step down, ashley pays no compensation and we get a decent manager and Joe is sacked after three days in the job... Anyway, positive slant welcome as only other alternative is ignoring nufc for the meanwhile :'(

I really think we are crying out for a "busy" nº10 who is willing to work in midfield as well as running up front. We would look much better with a 4-4-1-1 formation: -----------------------Krul------------------------ Debuchy----Taylor----Colo----------Mapou Cabaye Sissoko Hatem Gouffran "Bellamy type" CIsse Cabaye and Sissoko should both be capable of Box-to-box roles and know when to stay and when to go.... Busy nº10 who can hassle press and more importantly is decent at putting a few away...

Hahaha, plastered all over Marca, Spain's football equivalent of the daily sport, deal has been done... just need to ratify with liverpool, 47M€ get out clause...etc...etc...etc... I would just love it!!
