  1. If you want to manage you have to make tough decisions: Shola is crap and should be replaced by Oba Steven Taylor out and Ryan in his place Jonas on the right wing I hope I am right but lets see... Don't know about hughton as manager?
  2. I thought he git peed off with all the positive vibes on here...ahem!
  3. Butt on for 45 minutes and smith on for the second 45.... Come Back Joey, all is forgiven!!
  4. I would liken our team system (west brom) with what Capello played against Spain the other night: Good defence with attacking full backs (ahem!), midfield two sweep in front of defence and are very defensively structured, wingers and fullbacks are our attacking outlets (jonas & duff), big frontman to win ariel ball and pacy accomplice. Everton have a very organised team and their midfield of arteta and felliani are excellent, upfront cahill plays behinf the centre forward and represents the major threat. Defensively they are sound. We need to win the midfield battle and pressure quickly, would love to see Guthrie & Nolan together, would be a lot more dynamic than Butt... I would also go for pace upfront rather than brute force as their defence copes with the latter better than the former.
  5. It's not a boycott. It's a rally. A rally for what ? NUSC So if there are people there chanting for Ashley to leave they are not there for NUSC is that what your saying ? Serious question. I'm not saying anything like that. Many people want Ashley to go and many don't. Many are NUSC members and many aren't. The two things aren't mutually exclusive, so I'm sure you will get some of those chants. But then you get those chants away from NUSC organised rallys too. I've chanted it myself in the stadium without a committee telling me it was ok. But in an organised rally stuff surely has to be organised therefore the leaflets should be all join NUSC, banners saying the same and people in charge of what happens. Thats the whole point of an organised committee and an organised rally. What I predict will happen is you will have an overruling over people chanting for Ashley to go and for cockneys this and that and that is my whole problem with the current set up of NUSC. It appears from the outside to be a solely anti Ashley protest group. I'm sorry but that is how it looks and how it sounds from their meetings. The NUSC can't prohibit members of the public from voicing their own opinions in a public place though. They've taken the precaution of organising their rally away from the stadium so in the event that it does turn into an anti-Ashley gathering it doesn't affect those who disagree, or the players on the pitch. I think 90% of fans are anti-ashley, so on the whole I'd think the NUSC are. But i think they are (for the most part) taking level headed action that doesn't have a negative impact on the team. Even though I do think a couple of their statements have been heavy handed. Poll on this forum shows only 20 percent think the NUSC represent their views. Do you reckon 70 percent of people on here are even more "anti-Ashley" than they are? I think that most people would agree with NUSC soundbytes on the current mangement & ownership, BUT most people would disagree with their way of presenting these worries.
  6. This is what I would like to see: --------------Harps-------------- RTaylor--Colo---Bassong--Enrique Duff--Nolan--Butt---Jonas -------Oba----Lovenkrands Duff works his arse off and Rtaylor is needed for set pieces and is probably a better defender than Staylor. I would even think about replacing Colo with STaylor to give him a kick up the rear! Whoever mentioned that ameobi/carrol would be outfought by Lescott & jagielka are totally correct, pace is the one thing they will worry about...

It appears from the outside to be a solely anti Ashley protest group. I'm sorry but that is how it looks and how it sounds from their meetings. I think that it is guerilla tactics: You won't speak to us through normal formal channels, well just wait and see how we generate media reaction and fan support, now come and speak to our Credible organisation. I hope this is the underlying objective??
  8. I think that they want to show that they are a "credible" (copyright llambias) organisation and they want to air their displeasure at the current situation. Perhaps it is a way to show that perhaps 50% of the support agree with them in one manner or another. I certainly agree that the current management is lamentable but I disagree with boycotts and rallies... I think NUSC are trying to use the resources at their disposal to set up some sort of correspondance with Ashley and company (through media impact?), the problem being that these "childish" (copyright buzza) owners and management team have the hump with them for organising a first boycott and for publishing all of our worries and doubts about what they want to do. I am on the fence on this one, I agree & disagree...hhhmmm

    Spain vs England

I thought Jagielka was good until that half hearted tackle gave Villa the chance to regain the ball and shoot. JT looked slow and didn't react quick enough throughout the game. Don't think they were told that Fernando Llorente is probably the best forward to head the ball on set pieces, who was meant to be marking him anyway? Nobody was near him... It is actually a pleasure to watch Spain's talented midfield midgets run a game like that, it kind of made up for us getting beat. At least it was by the best team in the world..
  10. Had Ashley of spent some money in this transfer window he wouldn't be getting half the stick that he does and I don't think this boycott would have taken place. The lack of investment and childish/unprofessional attitude (You don't like me so now I'm going to sell it...) are my main rankles with this management/owner. P.S. I also don't think the boycott is the right answer, it will just antagonise the current owners and bring us into the media glare again. If NUSC are able to manipulate the press then it might not look so bad but I don't think that will happen.
  11. He was actually found out to be a "post-Ashley" poster and yes that donkey really is Dave!!
  12. It would be easy to find out who these "moles" are or by generating a list of posters "pre-Ashley" and "Post Ashley". Any of the "post Ashley" posters should be instantly rounded up, put in a field and "Bummed to Death" (this hailed in a Kenny Everett manner). This would instantly rid us of any doubt whatsoever as to moles or agents roaming this site and changing our opinion subversively!! P.S. I am "Pre -Ashley" (don't fancy getting bummed TBH) P.P.S. I agree that there will most probably be some influence from SJP on this board but not a huge influence either.
  13. I don't think Shola is lazy. With that physique of his, he's not going to be the most mobile of players, but he gives 100% and is never afraid of taking responsibility. He saw plenty of the ball on Saturday. As for 'he only muscles other players off the ball once a game' - I can't understand how you can say that. The one area where I don't think he can be faulted is his strength. Even the best of centre backs now find it difficult to go through him. Yes, I know he looks even lazier with his languid style or gangling strut, but on Saturday there were numerous occasions when he should have been pressuring defenders and he would just "trot" across and make no effort whatsoever, these were when we had men up and were pushing forward. I don't mind if he is up on his own and if their isn't a formation that would apply pressure but there were a good few times when I was screaming at him to pull his finger out and work. He has strength but you seldom see him really dominate a defender, the game that you do see it you are left astonished at the player he could be... I'm sorry but I am a hundred percent opposed here. He realistically only "performs" in around 10-20% of games, it's not good enough. If he had a goal tally that excused him a little of this workload (a la owen...) then perhaps we would be more forgiving? & he misses some absolute sitters... It's becoming a grudge, I know, but if the effort was there we would be much more merciful towards him.
  14. Somebody said it above: "he's a useful squad player", yes, one that is brought on for ten minutes at the end of a match to launch high balls up to! I can't believe people trying to make out he was any good on saturday. I haven't seen a lazier football player. The only reason he wins 50% of the headers is that he is a foot higher than the other players. He only ever muscles other players off the ball about once a game. If he asserted himself we know he can be twice the player, it just seems he can only do this one out of ten games... No last chances from me.
  15. Hughton needs to pull his finger out, get Vids on for shola and that will at least mean we can hold the ball up and make something of decent possession up front instead of that lazy, languid good for nothing...aaaarrrgghhhh!!
  16. Hey, I've just got a grip with this saylor and raylor business...ingenious or what!! P.S. I could be just pig thick?

    Ryan Taylor

Yep, he certainly is a step up from what we're used to. All five or so crosses have been dangerous...excellent!
  18. Butt has been awful, Nolan is showing him up for what he is...burnt out with no legs. How many 10 yard passes has butt given away??
  19. I would ahve ameobi off aswell, just walking around, doesn't look the slightest bit interested. A half fit Viduka or even Xisco for 45 would be ten times better. lovenkrands has had a couple of nice touches and runs the right channels..,let's see.
  20. they are abysmal TBF... We need three points end of story. Like taylor's corners and the other one's goal. If we had owen or oba fit I'm sure we'd be five up, and if jonas was playing we'd be ten up...hahahahahahah!!!
  21. I agree with libertine, we are better off after this window. Only by a miniscule amount but still better off... I thought that we could possibly be surprised, the ever present optimist...Never mind, we should be less naive when it comes to guaging our fat controller!
  22. GET AMEOBI OFF!! HE HAS DONE JACK SHITT ALL GAME... Jonas is the only outlet when they pressure us, has held the ball up well and is our only real threat in attack, can't beleive he's getting dissed! Nolan and butt are doing ok, crap goal to give away, colo was well late coming out. Get ranger or xisco on instead of amobi, I really do despise him, second to every ball and looks about 3 stone overweihgt ffs!
  23. If it frees up 8 or 10 million to sign other players then I would take their arm off! Harper is a very capable prem league keeper, not quite as good as shay but relatively close behind, I think it is worth it to get a couple of defenders and to get a decent midfielder.
  24. Regards the \Guardian...Sports>Martina Hyde and Louise Taylor If you read any other stories (apart from sport) in that so called newspaper you will also find unsubstantiated facts and endless quotes from insiders and anonymous informers. It really is a pile of sh*t. Alan oliver would probably get a job there. Times and Independant for quite balanced read and lack of invented quotes...
