"Reassurances That Every Penny Will Be Reinvested In The TEAM."
Jinky Jim replied to Crumpy Gunt's topic in Football
Not if you factor transfer fees, signing on fees and wages into the equation. So can some one do the maths ,if we sign 3 players on £6 million each for example and include wages and fees on 5 yr deals what will be left of the £35 million with our wage structure . Let's say we buy 2 players at £5m Cost=£10m 5year deal at £40,000 per week Cost = £10m per player =£20m Therefore if wages and Transfer fee are included ( but excluding signing on fee) Total =£30m 2 players for £30m That won't get us far!!!!!! -
Anyone spot Rooney telling linesman to F off, right in front of the camera's. Bet that's not reviewed by the FA. How many more will i spot before this match is over!
-
Anyone just see Arshavin playing with his John Thomas right in front of the camera in tonight's match. I hope the FA will look into that incident as well then!!!

"Suite booked up in the Malmaison for the next 2 months under the name Jurgen Elbershcolkeller, anyone who knows their onions knows that surname his mothers maiden name, this one could have legs lads." Just to keep the straws clutching!! From Skunkers so absolutely little validity!!!!!

I'll be dead waiting for this regime to crumble!!

I feel for you mate. For someone with so much experience supporting the toon, do you think this is significant enough to get worked up over? Or is it just one of those blips along the way of supporting the club? Think I can guess the answer like! I've seen 23 managers (or temporary) in 50 years. I've watched some of the most turgid players ever to wear the B&W's in Billy Whitehurst, Des Hamilton,Tony Cunningham, Joe Cornwell, Viv Busby, Billy Askew just to name a few. I've still managed to say to myself "things will get better" but i've now reached a stage where i no longer feel that will happen. Yes you're probably right, i am getting worked up, but for once i cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel. Ashley, just like Thatcher, when you snuff it eventually, i'll pop along to the pub and have myself a nice southern comfort in celebration!!!! Wasn't saying you shouldn't get worked up, just wanted to get the perspective of someone who had seen a bit more of the history. FWIW I feel the same way, even though I'm spoilt to have only been around since Keegan Mk1. Only been around since Keegan Mk 1!! That's s still 12 managers, Andreas Andersson, Laurent Charvet, Daniel Cordone, Frank Dumas, George Georgiadis, Stephane Guivarch, Marcelino, Niki Papavasiliou just to name a few. That's plenty enough to be part of NUFC history. You've got every right to be peeved!!!

I travel up from Nottingham every home game. I've followed the toon since 1960, through all the bad as well as good times. i've never, in all those years ever thought of not watching. But for the first time i so p***ed off that i am not going to renew my season ticket. Totally and utterly fed up with this regime. Unfortunately i cannot see any change, i'm afraid i believe Ashley is here to stay. i believe the guy is getting his own back on the supporters whilst making sure he gets all of his money back!!!!

Sorry I'm typing this on an iPad. I don't often write.......perhaps it'll be a few more years before I'll respond again, when I learn how to format a response.

Just got back......they closed the A1 at lemming bar, so had to go home via Middlesbrough. I thought Blackpool got their tactics absolutely spot on. They knew our main threat was down our left so they banked up defensively on Jose and Jonas. They also knew our weakness was on the right which is where their main threats in the first half came. See how many cross field balls they played towards Perch! They probably also played on the fact that the Toon always disappoint when everyone expects of them, by keeping the ball and creating all the early chances. They managed to keep the crowd quiet and prevented early hysteria. To add to this too many of the team failed to turn up first half, possibly expecting Blackpool to lay down and die. Perch is definitely not good enough. Living in Nottingham, the locals were pleased to see him go as they never thought he was consistent enough to make the championship, let alone the premier. Why don't managers change at half time if it's not working.it took Nolan's intervention before subs appeared (Has Nolan become coach as well as player). Fresh blood, and someone with some passion was needed......bring on Stroller!!! Their keeper didn't have a blinder......see how many of those 14 shots went straight at him. I thought Barton was by far our best player, even though he misplaced many a pass.....at least he showed some passion. On reflection this was possibly the worst game to follow VILLA, as everyone was expecting!!! if we were playing Spurs or Everton, i' m sure we would have been up for it more. Next few weeks will show what Hughton is made of.

It is David Craig!

There see, being positive.

Here we go again, am i the only one on N.O. who thinks things are better than they were last season? Yes i know they couln't get worse. I'm trying to look at some of the positives so far this season. For one, the quality of the opposition is poor, therefore with a reasonable bit of luck we should have a good chance of going straight back up. The back 4, although shaky at times, doesn't look as if it will concede many. In Enrique we have a quality left back defensively( though his distribution could be better) Taylor and Collocini look effective together. R.Taylor is competent at left back In Midfield, Smith has been a revelation as the defensive lynchpin. In my opinion Nolan is an effective attacking midfielder. Carroll will cause many more problems to other teams defences. Ranger will improve with each game. I'm not convinced with Harper or Krull but they will have to do. We desperately need some wide players and a creative central midfielder. THERE!!! That's showing POSITIVITY NOW with a bit of luck on the injury front and the FB gets assassinated, there's something to look forward to for the remaining of the season.

WE WERE RELEGATED. Of course we should see an improvement, Jesus wept. Have Middlesbrough improved? I don't think so, so relegation doesn't automatically mean improvement. Oh deary me, he's actually deadly serious too. Put it this way, if we were still in the Premier League now the improvement would be so great that we'd still be getting beat week after week. Yeah we've had a good start but people are clearly getting carried away. Of course i'm serious, and who's getting carried away. We havn't played that well all season and have been lucky to get some of the results we have. But try and be positive instead of constantly griping. Yeah sorry I constantly gripe, I'm not sure why I'm so negative about an absolutely magnificent performance. We were truly unlucky that our dynamic midfield and s*** hot strikers didn't blow them away. It's similar to the last couple of games, that's why we're still well clear of West Brom despite dropping points today. The glass is truly half full. I'm not getting at just you, but all the negativity surrounding our result. It's on the pitch and not the boardroom where there's light at the end of the tunnel.

I don't know why you lot bother to watch matches, all you can come up with is constant criticism. We deserved all the flak last 2 seasons but there are a lot of positives coming out of this season. Just open your eyes and try and see, and perhaps give some players a bit of credit. I've been a Nolan critic all last season but he has been our only midfield player, consistently likely to score or provide goalscoring opportunities.
-
Well things must look completely different live, cos i could have sworn we had loads of shots blocked by good defending, a goal disallowed (havn't seen it yet), frantic last ditch tackles and generally panic defending by Forest for the whole of the second half. There may not have been many clear cut chances, but it wasn't for the want of trying. How can you say Nolan was crap, he was everywhere today. The end product may not have happened, but he was our most likely creator.
-
Honestly, you must be blind. First half we played some of the worst football I've ever seen us play and we couldn't complain if we went in 4-0 at the break. Did you not watch the drivel we've produced over the last 2 years. Compared to that our first half was efficient, and effective (Till the 45th minute). It may not have been pretty, but they didn't create many chances. Liverpool, Man Utd ring a bell???
-
I admire your faith mate I also admire his deluded nonsense Ranger and Carroll up front, aye, we've all seen how well that one works. So who would you play up front, with our huge squad ??
-
Just got back from the game (live in Nottingham, so its a home game for me) I cannot believe the S*** you lot are giving. First half, we coped easily with what they threw at us. A couple of chances and a post. Their goal came from the one occasion the two centre backs lost their player. Second half, we camped in their half. it's difficult to break down a team who play 11 at the back and don't venture over the half way line. Smith was superb again. the back 4 did their job(except on one occasion). Nolan was industrious, but Guthrie is not a wide midfielder. Lovencrands should never play again, and Ranger should be ahead of Harewood in the pecking order as Harewood was atrocious all game. Jonas provided plenty of running without the usual end product. Oh and the support was unbelievable!!!!! You cannot moan at the lack of effort, on another day it could easily have been 4.
-
Don't know what game you lot were watching, is it different on the telly. Carroll was by far our most threatening striker. remember the service from wide was non existent Harewood is the one you want to crucify. Never held up play, no pace and couldn't win a ball in the air all game. Give carroll some credit.

Scored a cracker against Sunderland in the 60's, so he'll be for ever remembered by the older generation.

You're not kidding.....................I'm on holiday on tuesday and going straight to the match from this. Apparently there's a direct line to the box office for queries about season tickets.................and another statement saying anyone who has paid for a season ticket WILL get to the BOLTON game. What's the bet they will issue me with a paper ticket, that's if i can get an answer from the Box Office. That might mean i have to go to the box office to pick up my ticket on Saturday. I'd assume the box office is open on match day? Should be an interesting week!!!
