  1. http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/story_pages/sport/sport2.shtml SAM ALLARDYCE will be jobless after an amazing blunder over his decision to quit Bolton. Sport of the World understands he resigned at the Reebok after being ASSURED he would become the new Manchester City boss. But Allardyce was MISLED into believing his pal and former City star Ray Ranson is guaranteed to take over the Premier club. However, we can reveal former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra dramatically emerged as favourite to take charge at City after a rival £100 million offer was submitted. He is unlikely to hire Allardyce, preferring to look for a top European coach in the mould of Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho. Allardyce handed in his resignation to Bolton chairman Phil Gartside last week. Gartside was livid and immediately sent Allardyce home on gardening leave. But in a bid to cover up the astonishing behind-the-scenes row, Big Sam joined his squad at Stamford Bridge for the clash with Chelsea. Escape Significantly, Bolton assistant boss Sammy Lee faced the press after the game, with no sight of Allardyce. He said: "It's just speculation. Sam has been ill and didn't travel down with the team that came down this morning. That is ONE of the reasons for my appearance." Allardyce has a £2m escape clause in his current Bolton deal, which his pal Ranson was prepared to pay. But Allardyce was unaware of the interest from former Thai PM Shinawatra, thinking Ranson's £90m bid already had the support of influential City director Dennis Tueart. However, the decision over who wins control of the club - and therefore Allardyce's future rests with City's major shareholders, John Wardle and David Makin. Unfortunately for Big Sam, they remain unconvinced by Ranson's business plan and his ability to plough enough money into rebuilding the club, even if he takes over. Feared As revealed in the News of the World last week, they wrote to Ranson informing him of their concerns. But the former City player continued with his plan-and even convinced Allardyce he would replace current boss Stuart Pearce. Wardle and Makin own nearly 30 per cent of the Premiership club. The next largest shareholders are Mark Boler, who owns 18.75 per cent, BSkyB who own 9.9 per cent and Francis Lee who owns around seven per cent. Ironically, Tueart owns no shares. Lee is believed to be ready to back Ranson and has told him he will sell his shareholding-and possibly join his takeover team-but with Wardle and Makin refusing to sell, that support is irrelevant. Sport of the World has also learned that City have reported Ranson to the Takeover Panel citing concerns over comments made through the media. They feared that his public approach could affect the share price-particularly as they had still not received a formal approach by 5pm on Friday-when the Stock Exchange closed. Shinawatra's bid will be discussed at an emergency City board meeting this weekend.
  2. Thought exactly the same. A good old fashioned plain crash, nothing special.
  3. Reminds me of the WBA, Hudderfield and Colchester kit.
  4. It reminded me of what it used to be like when we could pass a ball and win a header. The more I watch the top 4 lately the more I realise just how shite we have become. Not the players as much as they all used to be capable of playing well before the training they have had this year.
  5. http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/newcastleunited/journalsport/tm_headline=roeder-s-unfazed-by-talk-of-the-sack%26method=full%26objectid=19026189%26siteid=50081-name_page.html A defiant Glenn Roeder last night insisted he is unconcerned about renewed speculation surrounding his position at St James's Park. And the Newcastle manager defended his team's efforts at Reading and insisted that his misfiring Magpies had performed "extremely well" during a fixture in which familiar failings cost them dear. Roeder insisted he does not fear for his job. "I won't lose a second of sleep over it," he said. Newcastle's defeat was their 16th in the Premiership this season and although Roeder bemoaned his side's failure to score yet again, he refused to criticise his players. "I thought we were worth at least a point," he said. "We had opportunities but there comes a point when you have to start taking chances and we've missed too many lately. We had enough chances to have taken something from the game so it's hugely frustrating. I thought we played extremely well in the first half but we gave away a sloppy goal after the break. "The two injuries summed things up. I know it's getting close to the end of the season but neither of those players will play again before the summer. They will probably be injured for a couple of months rather than a couple of weeks.
  6. I can see it fits peoples hopes of wanting Roeder out and it is an ITK but I would rather share it then keep it to myself. We can pretty much see on the pitch that things are fcked anyway. I have been dropping suttle hints since the AZ game and since the Zoggy, Bramble, Dyer etc Rumours. I also dropped a hint last night in one of threads. People don`t really listen unless you actually grass the player/person up with qoutes so they never talk to you again.
  7. It looked like they weren`t playing for their manager and didn`t care apart from Milner. We have misplaced passes all season but before we looked bothered, tonight we didn`t.
  8. He still needs 4 points from Blackburn and Watford to level with Souness`s full season points total. On topic I will still follow them but probably boycott the new shirt.
  9. I will be feeling the same as when Dyer came back. Interested to see the difference but scared everytime a tackle goes in on him - Foot injury , every burst of speed - hamstring, every twist - knee or groin.
  10. ...and a manager with no f****** clue. It's be even more annoying than it is now. At least now we know our squad are in the main bollocks. It's be even worse torture watching Roeder destroy us with good players. Tbh, the amount of quality in our squad is depressingly high. No, its not. But please feel free to put on some rose tinted (or in some cases entirely opaque) glasses about Ameobi, Dyer, Shambles, Babayaro, Moore, Duff, Luque, Sibierski, etc. really? i don't really get into a pointless debate (which would be what it would turn into) but if you look at the pedigree that duff, emre, martins, luque (although he is not roeders fault, in the main) and even parker came with, duff, martins, emre and luque were champions league players, and i believe the first 3 still are. you then just have to look at solano, dyer and given, to find threr more. thats 6 players who could be playing CL football. you don't agree on dyer, i know, but i rate him a lot, although he is on way too much money. taylor, milner and zog are examples of 2 youths who he has messed around completely, with the duff and villa fiasco's, and one who has (in my opinion obviously) taken a step back with roeder. he's sending the next batch of youth on loan, in my opinion one of the few good decisions he's taken, but it doesn't excuse the fact that he's shat on the above 3. I also don't think that butt would look out of place in top 6, when bramble plays well he's a good top 8 or 9 defender as well, although he is shite a lot of the time. half of the dissapointment comes from the fact that if you don't spend 4.4 mill on boum (plus wages (sold for 4.6 wasn't he?), 10 million on luque and add that to the afore mentioned player, you've got a top 5 squad, the other half comes from the fact that i don't know of one player signed in the last 3 years who performed better for us than his previous club, and therein lies the problem. Good post. The bit in bold I have thought for a long time.
  11. I think when he was asked he wasn`t ready to leave Bolton, Our was he waiting for the England job instead. Also i would take Sam over Glenn anyday. It would be good if Roeder was having these Transfer meetings with FS and FS was then checking them with Sam on the phone after.
  12. Me too. Me too. Had a long hard week. I thought that but I was just checking the forum before I went up to bed to watch some TV.
  13. Norwich have been up there in the last 15 years, and they thrashed Bayern Munich no less in europe. And with crouds of 25,000 in the championship im sure they could pull in 30,000 in the premiership. Exactly! Carrow Road > Whatever bike shed ipswich use Worse than Mackems you lot in Norwich ! 14. Not one I disagree with there. So thats my choice too. Still got a video tape my dad gave me of Ipswich beating Arsenal in the FA cup final. This just brought back memories of collecting those Football stickers back in the early eighties. The silver club badges
  15. They might not be as good as Bramble (I would argue that a couple are/were better) but none of them have the potential to drop a bollock from nowhere the way Titus does. I've never seen as inconsistent defender. When Woody was there he covered for the odd bollock. The same with most clubs, they have Defenders in and out of form, the key being the other CB is good enough to anticipate something going wrong weather it does or not and like wise the other way round when the other miscalculates a pass etc. I have seen this happen watching the top 4 sides. In most football matches the RB or LB would come round the back and cover but we havn`t had that for some years.
  16. to be honest, before the Alkmaar (a) game, he'd given good performances 5 times in a row Decent enough paerformances yes, maybe. but yesterday he was outstanding.. How can he be outstanding when he made two big errors in the first half and very nearly costs us a goal twice when he let kalou run past him!! Just because he made two hard tackles which get the crowd going he has played outstanding.....I dont get it! And you think that wouldn't have happened if that was Taylor with Kalou ? Kalou is a handful, he is quick and has bags of trickery...Not many defenders are that fast to stop such players... If Kalou had run past Taylor like he did with Bramble I wouldnt have said that Taylor played outstanding but appearently he didnt. And btw dont involve Taylor in here. You cant use his abilities to define weather or not Bramble was outstanding! When you are outstanding you dont make mistakes which you cant say about Bramble on sunday - end of story! Bramble wasn't outstanding neither was Taylor...and Taylor would have been even less than that had Kalou skinned Taylor instead of Bramble... My point is Bramble is NOT worse than any of our other defenders. On the contrary he is actually better than all of them except Taylor... Then we DO agree. My point was simply that Bramble wasnt outstanding against Chelsea We were I think, the 3rd team all season not to conceed against Chelsea. Did Harper even have a save to make ?
  17. Ok let him go along with Gooch, Moore, Carr , Baba, Edgar ( Loan ) Hunty ( Loan ) , Zoggy, Dyer ( If the rumours are right ) , Luque. Clever people you lot up north aren`t you. Considering our injury history and paper thin squad anyway. Good idea, having a go at people from the North on a Newcastle message board. Especially when you're from fucking Suffolk. Whats the record amount of players a Team in the Premiership have ever brought in, in 1 summer ? Do you agree that our squad is paper thin ? Do you agree that or finances aren`t exactly great ? Do you agree its harder to bring in players than some people think ? I mean ffs I would rather put up with Bramble than see Carr and Ramage in the team ever again . We pay Baba to sit our injured 90% of the season. Moore is going, so is Gooch. What other conclusion can I draw to if you also think we should let Bramble go as well.
  18. The only time Bramble looked any good was when he played consistantly with Woody. He has been in the same situation for 4 years you state hasn`t helped Gooch with the ever changing back 4. Playing alongside OB and Boumsong, give me a break. Your point about squad players makes me beleive you want to change every single defender at the club. The main back 4 and a back up back 4. Thats 8 defenders, dream on.

  20. Not that simple though, he's out of contract and we've pissed him about. I take your point but rewarding him with a new contract isn't the way forward. If he'd take a two year deal on less cash then it's a different matter but why would he do that when he's likely to get a better deal on a Bosman. I think he would. He isn`t a money grabber tbh. He likes playing for NUFC. Its not always about money with some players. Mate, he's shit 80% of the time. Once in a blue moon we get a decent performance out of him. I'm sure he loves playing for NUFC, because he probably knows that his next move will be downwards....and the one after that etc. I know you're pally with him, but it's plainly obvious that we need to get rid of him and others if we are EVER going to improve our defence to one that can perform well consistently. No one can say that Titus Bramble hasn't been given a fair crack of the whip at NUFC, but he's failed to prove himself and he needs to go. And that applies whether there are players ahead of him in the queue to leave or not. If you read my earlier posts I agree but if hes shit 80% of the time all the other cbs are shit 100% of the time. They do have age on their side though were as Titus hasn`t. Like I said earlier if he is going then we need imo 4 cbs of better quality. I feel with 2 quality CBs brought in and Bramble and Taylor as squad players then it will be ok. If you personally think Ramage Moore and Gooch are better CBs you need your head checking out. Moore and Gooch are going anyway. Huntington needs are year of Sub apperances being in around the team. Taylor will hopefully come good this year.

  22. I wasn`t talking about Chelsea. I was talking about the scapgoating after AZ. My point above is that who do we have better atm ? It isn`t just the Chelsea or AZ 1st leg game its the other good performances he can make before he messes up again. No one else on our defensive books has puts in quality performances where the forum has commented to the extent. Fine if Roeder wants to go out and buy 4 CB`s this summer and gets them ahead of other teams. Taylor is the only CB we have that is ready and thats being optimistic. What about injuries aswell? Before the wages issue comes up he isn`t on what people believe. There are far more underperformers in the team that are on double if not more.
  23. What worldclass player ( if we get any ever again ) would respect a kid ? I think in order for a captain to actually work out on the pitch the whole squad has to look up to him.
