Almost as bad as when we had zero quality fullbacks for what felt like a decade, culminating in Carr/Babayaro.
-
Wow, bit of a short term memory have we? Alan Smith was decent in the Championship in our team and filled a role that let the rest of the team play.

Think you're in for a big shock - we are in deep s*** already and there is no way in hell it's going to change with this manager. Any team who can't keep clean sheets and can't score is in serious trouble and boy are we not. We're 5 games into the season, we've played Man U away, Southampton and Arsenal at home and did pretty well in all those games. Calm the f*** down. Exactly

I think the younger generation today tend to be a bit blinded with "pace is everything". Yes it's a good attribute, but there's a lot to be said for just being in the right place at the right time and always making the correct choices combined with a bit of skill and outright audacity - Le Tiss, Bergkamp, Sheringham are the pinacle of the these types of player. Even when Ronaldo was 43 stone (not ours.. well.. maybe?) he outplayed any defence he was faced with. He had the speed and change of direction of a dilapidated hedgehog.

I don't know why the whole Torpedo Sunderland bit made me laugh is much as it did, it's just silly

If we're in the bottom 6 come February then he'll lose his job imo. What do you base that on? Not being an arse, like. Just seems highly unlikely given how early we'd be into his tenure and, obviously, recent historical events suggesting that even the worst managers are f***ing bulletproof as long as they've got a contract going forward. We'd have to be rock stoney bottom in April to see any movement in the dugout, imo. Not forgetting he's actually on the board. Would be an interesting board meeting where one of the directors votes to have himself sacked or not.

Been that way for 9 months now.

Hyeedaruh has given the ball away about 9 times now.
-
We need him very badly right now, we have absolutely zero intelligence in their half of their pitch. Not much in our own half either, mind.
-
Who the fuck is Hyeedaruh

Wijnaldum not starting?! Not a chance! He's talked up DeJong a lot, wonder who'd make way then, Sissoko/Thauvin?
-
What I want - Back 5 picks itself -----Sissoko-Wij----- Perez-DeJong-Thauvin --------Cisse------- What we'll get -----Anita-Colback----- Sissoko-DeJong-Thauvin ------Cisse/Perez------

Scored for Serbia tonight against France.

Very much so. Was one of, if not the best, creative forces for us last season. Powerful intelligent running, and a somewhat decent cross. Was pretty much our playmaker in Cabaye's absence from the games I saw.

He was ace, biased as f*** I recall him urging someone to "go on, skin him!" In that Poland game wasn't that the occasion Pearce come out with "Ready, Steady, Teddy!!!" when Sheringham scored? aye it's at the end. Rob Lee rounds the keeper and lays it off to him. He also went mental when we won in Zagreb. Absolutely mint, that. He's in full-on Robotwars mode. Was that shown on Channel 5? At the time it would have been BBC2, had me school robot get to the final of the first series.

I believe it is the end of next season. I wouldn't be surprised if they took the opportunity to pull out at the end of this season though. we'll see a lot about the clubs real intentions on listening to the fans etc. when that deal comes up for renewal or they're to be replaced EDIT: you're right end of next season by the sound of it http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/wonga-may-end-24m-shirt-sponsorship-deal-with-newcastle-united-10268402.html There is not a chance that Wonga will be able to renew. They have had to give back millions in compensation, they aren't taking in anywhere near as much money as the used too due to new laws and regulations, as well as increased competition. I maybe mistaken but I'm sure they pulled out of their deal with Blackpool early, I know the new Hearts owners told them to get f***ed. I think they may stay this year because it would be cheaper for them to continue for this year then it would be to pull out, next year is up for debate though. They certainly won't be renewing though. Gonna be back to sportsdirect@st james' park pretty sharpish then.

I'm beginning to think I should have put a smiley in my post...

End of the day it was dangerous play, whether intentional or not, it was reckless. Red for me like.

Left wing or a 10 for me. I don't see him as a striker, especially if he is up there on his own. Too lightweight and not his game trying to hold it up against two big centre backs. His movement is quality and he always finds space dropping deep. I think he'd be wasted in a more back to goal role. In fairness, I am basing this on when we had Pardew/Carver in charge. But I still feel his attributes means he fits better as an wide forward or behind a striker. As oppose to leading the line. Pretty much my thoughts too. I'd be of the opinion though that ideally we'd want to stack our front line with 'must-mark' players, Mitrovic, Perez, Thauvin etc., only having one or two in makes it much easier for the defence. They can't mark everyone to death This is how Siem would work in a system with pacey players as they'll make the room for him and vice versa. Perez - De Jong - Thauvin --------Mitrovic-------- Or similar
