I was slightly thrown by the comment "Thickest man in football strikes again.", made it sound like he'd repeated it. Just misread it.
-
Ironically, he might have left for Chelsea if they had gone for him when he was available. Now though, he's bought in. I don't think there's any club could poach him, and of course international management is for those winding down their club careers.
-
Please tell me that's not a recent quote.
-
Shows how out of touch fans are when they still quaintly think that being England manager is the pinnacle of a young manager's dreams. International football is where the best and proven managers plan their retirement years.
-
Agree 100%. I don't really get this idea that he'd be mad to go there. Managers of his calibre will have ambitions to be the best of the best, that's not going to happen at Brighton where he'll always be restricted by budget. Chelsea is a very natural progression for Potter, and tbh he seems like such a good manager that he should succeed.
-
Not sure if serious?
-
I like Poch a lot, but not sure that's an upgrade. Potter would make more sense, he's clearly a talented manager and is ready to step up for the right job surely.

Same here. I would have been delighted with three top class signings this summer before the window, and if you include him with Botman and Isak, then that's what we got. Fabulous signing, I bet Man U and a few other clubs will be asking questions why this one slipped under their radar.

I did hear that argument from someone on TV over the weekend, and it does seem like a very simple and logical solution.
-
Might be because he looks more like 38.

I said that in the Maddison thread. Never thought he showed he wanted it enough, there was talk that he preferred a move south, although no idea if that is true or not. In any case, he needs to pull his finger out and help Leicester up the table. Or alternatively he could go into holiday mode and leave on a reduced fee next year.

I'm a bit worried people are expecting too much of Elliott. In the games he's played so far, he's looked very positive and direct, but it's a big jump up in levels for him, and he's finding it as hard to deliver end product as all the others.
-
I can't tell who's who in that thread, they both have red and white colours and both sides talk shit. I think I'll leave them to it.

It's a fair point. While it feels disappointing to have only picked up a couple of points after the opening day win since then, there is still only a couple of points separating all the teams realistically chasing 7th. We do need a win or two in the next few fixtures though, just to stay in the pack. It might all look a lot better after the international break with Maxi, Bruno and hopefully Wilson back.
-
Yeah, I mean good luck to the lad if people like it, but it's just not for me. There's far batter podcasts/vlogs out there, personally I like Loaded and The Toon Review is worth watching for Alex who really knows his stuff.

That's precisely why it was so important to get Isak through the door. Now it doesn't feel as desperate to have him back, I'm more concerned about the RW slot. You could play Miggy or Fraser there, but I guess Miggy will get the nod as he is still more of an asset without the end product than Fraser.

Booing Dyer is one thing, since he was apparently an arrogant so and so, but abusing a lad who is coming over to clap the fans is different level of pond life behaviour.
-
Don't really get the appeal of Adam P tbh. I guess people just love his enthusiasm which is fair enough, but his click-baity video titles just irritate me, inevitably the actual content doesn't match up, and is usually buried well into the video so you have to trawl through the rest of his spammery to get to it.

Agree, Man U looked good, but they have one or two players in there who's form could just as easily drop off like it did under Ole. Arsenal still look like they are relying on their kids being top form as well. A bit of pressure and they start looking like the same team which capitulated at St James Park last season.
-
As for Maddison, he's a great talent, but Leicester pricing him out of a move here might have turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as I don't think we would have pushed for Isak as hard if we had already spent huge money on Maddison. Isak for me was a bigger priority. Leicester needed a good start to justify their hardball stance on demanding maximum fees, sitting bottom of the table that money we offered for Maddison must look a lot better now the window's closed. Good luck in getting £60m in January.

I don't really see him as the motivational type tbh, he seems like one of those managers who likes to bang his own drum. I can imagine players would quickly get tired of his self aggrandising manner and it does seem wherever he's gone, the results seem to tail off quite drastically after a couple of years.
-
I wouldn't argue, but players who are in forward positions need to contribute goals/assists, otherwise you end up with hard working 0-0's.

Almiron puts in a wonderful shift just about every game, but ultimately yesterday, Palace knew if they stopped Isak, then they had a good chance of preventing goals conceded. It's not just Almiron's fault, but Fraser and Willock as well. These are the guys making up our attack, and they just don't score enough goals.
