It won't be that easy, he's a damn fine midfielder and will be a huge job to replace him. The only reason we would possibly contemplate selling is if we aren't getting Europe and we have no other way of trading up. At the moment because of PSR we literally have no other option but to sell players and use the profit to invest in the squad. If we don't sell, it will be a case of diminishing value year on year for players like him.

It puts us in a bit of a dilemma in that he is 27 so he is at peak value pretty much. We don't want to lose him, but unless we have some other way of injecting money into the squad, trading at peak value is our only way forward.

This. Must admit I was kind of surprised to hear it being linked with Gosforth, just seems to be some weird inflection that some people seem to have picked up second hand. Maybe footballers get that from being around so many different accents during their career. Waddle was a Mackem, Bruce spent half his life kissing Mancunian arse, and Shearer probably spent too much time with the pair of them.

You would like to think we learned quite a lot from the league defeat, although even before that, they were clearly their biggest threat. But lightning doesn't strike twice, and tbf they both hit a couple of screamers.
-
Yeah he was defensively very solid at LB for us, only issues was when he got exposed high up the pitch against a pacy forward who got in behind him, but that didn't happen very often. He was ok going forward as well to a point, obviously not going to provide the quality you get from someone like Hall but then he's probably more solid defensively.

Sellars was probably the diametric opposite of Murphy. Didn't have a load of pace, but had a lovely touch and first pass. He was ahead of his time really, probably a bit too delicate for football in the '90s but he had a wand of a left foot.

They couldn't in all fairness book him for diving there as the defender did clatter him without getting anywhere near the ball. Yes Bruno was looking for it, but he still took him out. Not a pen, but if it had been given VAR couldn't have overruled it, that puts things in perspective.

He was electric. That's probably the best performance I've seen from him tbh.
-
That one which he carefully planted over the bar when he had a free run at it...
-
His teeth were flashing too brightly on the TV yesterday. Are they real or veneers?

I was talking about the season so far in case that wasn't clear.

Yeah Leicester dropped really deep and we were happy just to play keep ball by then. Not really a great time for him to come on.
-
I'll be happy if we just stop conceding really soft goals. I reckon the results will look after themselves once that happens.

Agree, while I love Hall's willingness to fly down the flanks, I will be interested to see how he does on Wednesday against Brentford. Mbuemo gave him a bit of a torrid time down there, so would like to think he'll be better prepared this time round.
-
If that's the move where he eventually put Barnes through instead I think it's a harsh criticism. It did looked like he should have passed earlier, but it was a great piece of close control to slip Barnes through instead. If Barnes hadn't let it roll too wide long it should have been 5-0 anyway.

What I meant was that owners who were purely driven by making a short to meidum term turnaround on their investment might not go down that route. Someone like Mike Ashley for example. As a long term investment, sure a stadium will eventually pay off. Even then we would have to start winning stuff to grab some of the share of global audience. It all comes down to whether we see a path to winning stuff I guess. That will mean buying the best players or equivalent at some point.
-
I didn't see the first half, but they got stronger as the game went on in the second half, and we got progressively worse.
-
MOTD on Liverpool's first equaliser: "and the goal is being checked here for a potential offside by Luis Diaz...it's been cleared!." Then they don't show the replay so we can see for ourselves.
-
He'd be the perfect squad player if PSR allowed us to keep local players instead of having to sell them.
-
Liverpool would have had to finish 0-0 for anything other than an Anfield wankfest.
-
I hope we deal with Mbuemo better than we did at their place. I said before the game that their front three might cause us problems and both him and Wissa scored.
-
Ironic but Tonali would probably be a far better fit for current City than Bruno. But I guess once Rodri is back then that might change. It does show the quality of midfielders we have on our books if we can get the team set up right.
-
Looked like he was trying too hard to me.

Not really, we've been here before this season. Our defence wasn't really tested today, it's how they hold up against better opposition which will determine our season. But it was a good performance, and a cracking win. Now we need to make sure we don't drop the ball in the next couple of games, we have a bit of ground to make up, and that means back to back wins are much needed.

Yeah was a bit pissed off that Forest scored a winner but of the two I would rather they took the 3 points as I don't think they can sustain it if they get a couple of injuries.
