Sissoko and Gini as a pair would be as effective as playing Lampard and Gerrard together. Why would you limit two of our most potent attacking players by making it so one has to stay back? Especially since McClaren clearly wants a deep lying midfielder so the full backs can get forward. Madness.

We've seen nothing in pre season to suggest Wijnaldum will play in the two with De Jong off the striker. It looked pretty good in the last 20 minutes yesterday but all signs point to Anita and Colback with Wijnaldum in front of them. Pretty worrying.

If he has potential, he can do one and realise that potential elsewhere before coming to us. We aren't some learning school, we're one of the richest clubs in the world. If another recently retired keeper who'd never coached was being suggested, this wouldn't even be up for debate. So the fact he's a Geordie is the only reason he's a contender.
