I don't believe his mandate was just to keep us up. After he was appointed Amanda spoke about the possibilities of relegation and that Howe had a lot of experience with getting a side promoted. If he keeps us up it'll be a massive bonus but this team has been on a massive downwards slide for over 2 years. Some of these players should have been replaced years ago and most of them will never get into another PL side.

If we are to have any chance staying up then we need players in now. They may not be our first choice players but they need to improve on what we have. Amanda and co are fully aware of that and they also know how difficult the January window can be. I'm sure they will be working furiously in the background to try and make things happen and it's crazy to criticize them at this point. Wood may not keep us up but he may just keep Burnley down

No saying that Courtinho will be a success and I don't see how it's a big deal getting him. He's Gerrard's mate and It's best part of 4 years since he played in the PL and hasn't exactly been a success elsewhere which is why nobody else came in for him. Not sure about Digne, he's an excellent player but I just wonder about his attitude. All this about Gerrard being such a big name in the game and can get players is total bullshit. He's managed Rangers and where was the competition up there. It's been a 2 horse race between Rangers and Celtic for the SPL title since the beginning of time. Even Strachan and McLeish have succeeded up there but they didn't down here.. Gerrard took over a club in a far better position than Howe has done but time will tell
