Looking at a last minute trip over towards Barcelona with a trip to the museum tagged on. Have taken it as the perfect time to introduce my 7 and 6 year olds to the great man

Take the Isak bit out and improving the squad should improve the starting 11 as we can afford to give players more of a rest and also switch up combinations a little. With the number of holes we needed to fill this summer its the right approach, other than in a couple of positions improving on any of our 'first' 11 would cost big bucks

The bit people miss is that the club owns the registration for the player which is needed for them to represent you in a given competition. Its really this registration that gets bought and sold and not the person. Think of it like a work visa, the player is free to cancel their contract at any point, but in the same way that someone tied to a sponsored visa is likely to have to move countries if they just up and leave the player won't be able to play professional football. Companies can of course work to transfer visas (in most cases), and clubs can work to transfer the registration via a transfer fee

Having Wissa on the bench would be a huge plus

Just from a man management point of view there is no way Eddie puts a player in a squad against his former team, at their ground, 2 days after signing/leaving.

It's probably a coping mechanism but I've got a feeling that this summer is peak value and just maybe he's been a little over hyped this season. Yes Isak has all the tools to be one of the elite, but cold hard facts are that despite his undoubted talent he can go missing, lacks a bit of stamina, be a little inconsistent, gets niggly injuries and has now shown a sub optimal personality for a team sport. Of course when he signs the new deal akd scores a few this goes out the window and he is the best player in the world. As I say, coping mechanism!

Would you say the club are in a bit of a chicken and egg scenario with the site/ground design? They aren't going to go in on a plot of land without some assurances that they will be able to build on it, but to get the assurances they are likely to have to put some early design concepts forward to the Council?

could be 9/10 for 89 minutes and 1/10 for 1 minute which would cost us a goal. he was probably born 15 years too early, reckon he’d be less error prone today where there is much more of a tight focus on systems and tight roles

This isn't playing on Chelsea's buy and sell game though, he's been a first team regular for 2 years but now have alternatives so he's available.

Obviously this is preempted with us signing Jackson, Wissa and Samu

Loan to Holland. He's got ability, a season of regularly scoring will do wonders mentally

Odysseas Vlachodimos (on loan at Sevilla)

He looked OK in the games against England, not good but not bad -
The one point I don't agree on within this thread is that it is helping Chelsea out with PSR. They will never need help, there will always be a loophole for them. On NJ, I wouldn't like him as an Isak replacement in being the only striker able to play, but if we got 2 into rotate a bit to get 12-15 goals out of both then he's a good player with potential to hit really decent numbers in the right set up. And as thats the only way we are going to replace Isak's goals potentially not a bad move.

Not quite, we needed to have saved £65m in wages and amortisation over the 3 year period, lets round it to £22m a year. That's north of £75m in transfer fees with the associated salaries contributing £7m a year (ish). You're basically taking out 3/4 from Tonali, Gordon, Barnes, Tino, Pope, Isak, Bruno, BDB

If you look at it we needed to make sales of £60m to be compliant. There was no one purchase in the previous 2 years that put us in that position, the world just caught up with us. I don't believe for one minute that the need for sales crept up on anyone, it was know and planned for. The plan had been an expectation of Bruno or Big Joe leaving. When this didn't happen plan a was Gordon (which would have likely released some funds for a signing or 2 last summer), plan b was Minteh and Anderson (and the Ashworth bonus) which didn't weaken the first team but was at a £ level sufficient only to cover the losses and not release funds for signings
