  1. Not surprised. Taylor and Hughton were good mates in their playing days at Spurs.
  2. Sounds like Pienaar is definitely on the move.
  3. But would you want Bentley, and Keane and Gio and a bit of cash, if it meant losing Carroll? Not saying it's happening, just wondering.
  4. I did say a sale is very much the preference. Of the teams that are asking about him you're the best option club wise, but there is a sentimental pull from Wolves and his missus likes London, there is a young nipper as well. I've no idea where he might end up and I certainly wouldn't have a bet on any possible destination.
  5. Definitely looking to sell RK as a preference but it's not sell or nothing. Levy has quoted West Ham £6m or £2m as a loan fee, RK's agent is apparently wanting £1m bonus if they avoid the drop and that's on top of £65k pw. I don't think he'll wind up at West Ham, there's a lot of bad blood over the Olympic Stadium
  6. No matter where Keane goes, I think he'll be a great deal better than he has been for Spurs since his return from Liverpool. Very simply, he wants to play on a regular basis and he's not doing that at Spurs. He also says that lack of games is also affecting his Ireland performances, which is probably true.
  7. From what's being said and the Mirror's "exclusive" tomorrow, it sounds like Beckham is joining Spurs on loan. Levy will never turn down an opportunity to sell a few shirts.
  8. I've got a bad feeling it's going to be 1-1. We never seem to perform as well against Newcastle as other teams.
  9. ENIC have converted their 56247 preference shares into over 87.8m ordinary shares which means they now own 86% of the total ordinary shares issued. Those that know more about these matters than me say that is good for ENIC if a) they were thinking about paying dividends or b) they were thinking about selling up. Probably got nothing to do with it but ENIC have been in talks with the Qatari Royal family regarding naming rights for the new stadium wherever that is built and 'other matters of mutual interest'.
  10. I'd use the Berbatov deal as a precedent. Berbatov was arguably more talented at the time but had also just about peaked whereas Carroll's barely into his twenties which should add value and the fact he's pretty much irreplaceable to us adding more. So basically a canny bit more than £30m, which I don't think anyone will be prepared to pay at the minute. Not sure that's the best way to look at it, considering how desperate Man U were to sign him and then had to battle Man City to sign him on deadline day with Tottenham playing it clever the whole time too. However, if someone was to offer silly money, so £30m+, are you saying you'd accept that under the assumption it'd be put back into the squad? What if it was just going to cover another year's worth of debt instead, rather than Mike Ashley forking out the yearly £20m? Basically I don't think anyone will offer his worth to us atm which, with a sensible owner, would be around the £35m mark. However with a very less than sensible offer I can see a much smaller sum being accepted which shouldn't be. If we accepted £20m or so for him I'd be f***ing fuming. Lescott went for that ffs. Ah, this is stressing me out now. If Ipswich are wanting £10m+ for Wickham it's fair to assume Carroll's fee if he went would be a lot more than £20m. Can't see him moving to Spurs, Harry hasn't said that Carroll is a player he admires but he's not interested in signing him!
  11. He looks a talent but Southampton are apparently wanting £12m for the kid. A lot of money. Really? Where did you get that number from? He's been talked about as the next big thing to come out of the Southampton academy, but £12m...that's just crazy. Spurs enquired and that's what we were quoted. Walcott might have cost £12m but Bale cost only £6m as Rupert Lowe was trying to balance the books a bit. I don't think Southampton are desperate for money now so they can ask whatever fee they want. Think Connor Wickham looks better value currently.
  12. He looks a talent but Southampton are apparently wanting £12m for the kid. A lot of money.
  13. I've seen Spurs v. Arsenal Academy games where there's been around 1000/1200 but the u12 matches normally attract 25/30 if you're lucky. But, as you say, an amazing atmosphere.
  14. Lech Poznan v Spurs u12 match in a tourno in Poland More fans than you'd normally see at a Wigan home game (around 0.40) and flares (around 6.00)!!! At an Under 12's match?? Insane, even if the Spurs kids did go and applaud the Posnan fans at the end.
  15. For £8m apparently God, I hope they come for Sidwell. Where is Parker going? Need i ask? *wink* Not really. Villa want Keane for £6m, so do Wolves, Vancouver Whitecaps is also an option apparently. If you get him, God help you!!

    Alan Pardew

There are things in bed that are working??? I thought it was a football press conference ffs!

    Alan Pardew

How doesn't he know the squad if he's been watching so much PL football?
  18. A rumour on Spurs forums is that Hughton wanted a 3 year contract of £1.5/2m pa. Ashley reckoned that would make him too expensive to sack sometime in the future so better to get rid and bring in a cheaper option now. The originator is a known mate of Paul Kemsley and Mike Ashley so there probably is some truth in it. Still doesn't make Ashley's decision to sack Hughton right.
  19. Tim Sherwood has already been recommended by Harry to take over the reins when he goes, that's why Sherwood joined the coaching staff. CH going to West Ham would be logical, he was popular there as a player.
  20. He's in America now and think he did a lot/most/all of his dosh on Lehmans
  21. If Ashley is looking to cut the wage bill he won't.
  22. Freddy Shepherd interviewed him for the position of manager after Souness was sacked. He was still at Spurs at this point. He was. Staggered that BMJ would shaft Hughton like that though. No true friends in football I suppose.
  23. Utterly bewildering. Ashley's excuse that they want more experience just doesn't stand up. He was good enough for Ashley when you were relegated, he was good enough to get you straight back up again, he was good enough to get you up to 11th. Doesn't Ashley realise that that is a significant achievement in itself. Who are the alternatives? Pardew? Does he really offer more than Hughton? O'Neill? Will Ashley offer MON more support than he got from Lerner at Villa? Ashley could always go for an experienced foreign manager. Jaunde Ramos perhaps? Or Christian Gross? Two very experienced managers!! Shameful decision.
