  1. If Dyer stays fit, there's no doubt about it - he'll be one of the key figures of us staying up. But saviour of the season? No. It's a team game and we're not a one-man team.
  2. Given - Simply world class saves. Kicking was shite, though. 9. Taylor - Annoyed with him, because i thought he had a good game, right up until the most stupid error. The ball was going nowhere. 6. Moore - Solid, cut out plenty of balls into the box. One saving diving header across the face of goal, that consequently injured him. 7 Bramble - Solid for the most part, though there were still glimpses of silly errors and some of his sliding tackles were so inaccurate they were laughable. 7. Ramage - I don't think Ramage had a particularly bad game. He's rubbish in the air, but couldn't really handly Hleb and Walcott. He'll be a decent CB. 6. Solano - Poor i thought, and anti-climaxed the Nobby-Dyer reunion. Continues to give the ball away cheaply and slow down the play. He should be used as a subsitute where he can actually come on and effect a game (Watford/City). 5. Parker - Erm. Can't really comment, but he was frustrating with his backward play. Butt - Can't really comment again, the stream wasn't clear enough to define Parker and Butt. Duff - Anonymous. Simply anonymous. Play N'Zogbia. 5. Dyer - Welcome back Kieron. Lovely pieces of play, and he scared the defense at times. Really well taken goal, and he'll destroy Vigo's defense on Thursday. 8. Martins - Fantastic performance. Lovely touches, great speed, worked well with Dyer, nice turns, nice little passes, held the ball up well - chuffed that he put in such a good performance. If it wasn't for given, he would be my man of the match. 8. There's a partnership there...
  3. I would have said that about Sheffield United, Boro, Man City, Charlton etc. Didn't get much out of them now did we? Quote the whole post. Wasn't it a similar situation where we went into them sort of games after decent European performances? Not saying I disagree with the sentiment but I don't much trust what you say will happen. I'm just showing some optimism. Not saying it will or it won't. It should really, but past experiences have told us not to be so sure; i'm still confident. As ever!

  5. Aye, and drop Bramble for Ramage. Did you watch the game today? As much as i hate to say it Bramble was outstanding. Dyer and Martins were also outstanding. Another one who hasn't read the rules, Bramble and Ameobi CANNOT have good games, they may appear to have had a good one but really they were shit and with a pub team footballer on the pitch instead we would have done better! I was joking to wind AS9 up, because i know he hates Ramage.
  6. This gives us a good foundation aswell, a good result on Thursday and we can really kick-start our season i reckon. I've said that once or twice, but we haven't got a difficult fixture list coming up. Portsmouth, Reading, Blackburn and Watford all coming up in the next five games, we really should be looking to pick 9 or 10 points up, at the very least.
  7. Pleased with the result mind. That's a creditable performance and plenty of positives coming out of that. Just think we could have put Arsenal under a bit of pressure if Nobby had come off a bit sooner.
  8. Are you ****ing joking?! Roeder got it spot on. We came here and got what we most of us would have been delighted to get. If we're playing well up until the 70th minute, why would you want to change it? Sibierski only came on when Moore had the injury and Duff was really tiring by the end of it. I don't understand why you would want Roeder to change things around when we're 1-0 up and Arsenal are not exactly all over us.. YG is osbsessed with Roeder subs and no matter what he does or what the result they are always shit. My opinions onm his subs are questionable today, but i think Milenr should have come on around the 55-60 minute mark. There was a point there where we actually had a bit more possession and were linking the play well and getting forward quite frequently - the one weak link being Nobby, who kept giving the ball away, and was poor up until he went off. We were lacking something at that point, and i think a subsitution then would have drove us on a bit more.
  9. Martins, for the first time that i've seen him (other than the Levadia game) looked like a frigging cracking player. So dangerous - frightening pace - held the ball up well - lovely turns and touches. Just unfortunate he never got a chance infront of goal, but then nobody did. Dyer and him look to have a partnership there.
  10. Fantastic result, but yet another rubbish performance from the manager. All subsitutions in the last 15 minutes. Idiotic.
  11. Absolutely disgraceful, but fortunately, you know that it's only a minority. However unfortunately, every team has a certain cluster of fans, morons, that are like that. Sadly, that's humanity really. I'd have him back at Toon in Jan on the cheap. If Rossi and Luque go, replace them with Lua Lua and a cheap targetman like Viduka, and i'll be happy enough till the end of the season.

    Crouch in january

Oh, it's absolute bollocks, no doubt about that.
  13. :? He's not bad. Been prolific for the last two seasons in an average-to-struggling Charlton team. That's pretty impressive. Depends what you define 'great' as to be honest.

    Crouch in january

Because he's a glorified Emile Heskey. Has a similar goals record at club level, and most of international goals have came against 2-bob League 1 standard teams (Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, etc). What about the players that didn't score then. Does that make them even worse than Crouch...?

    Crouch in january

That's down to the manager, whether it's with England or us. We shouldn't play long ball anyway cos we're abysmal in the air, and generally just shite at it.
  16. If Shola plays this week, after his performance against Man City and in what is going to be a 4-5-1 formation (or effectively 4-5-0), i honestly don't think i would be able to describe the feeling. Anger, disappointment, confusion, un-surprisement. He was absolutely woeful last week. Terrible - infact, he was playing like an average sort of player who was at 50%. Oh wait... We've got Rossi, Luque, Sibierski, Martins, Milner, Dyer all fit and ready play upfront rather than Shola this weekend. It's going to be a 4-5-1 - so just play Sibierski! That's what i would do. He's the targetman when Shola's not around, so just play him. We'll have very little in the attacking third as it stands, don't make it worse by playing a cripple. It's primarily Roeder's fault if Shola plays, but realistically - Shola isn't thick and he knows that he played badly against Man City, and the team improved when he went off. I can understand that he's a Geordie and he wants to help, but he'd be a lot more help on the sidelines and he should know that really, and he should hold his hands up and admit it. If he doesn't know it, he's pretty thick tbh.

    Crouch in january

Only player at Liverpool with the capable of being prolific. I like Crouch and i'd be absolutely amazed if we signed him. Realistically, he'd cost upwards of £10m, simply because Liverpool won't want to let him go and they'll want to make a profit, and he's English. We would never be able to sign him, but he'd definitely work in our team. Would be a brilliant signing. He gets slated far too much on here.

    Oliver Speaks

If the centre-back is Distin i'll be well pleased. If it's Zat Knight, i won't be surprised.
  19. Great player, and maybe, maybe in the summer. But we have Owen and Martins who Bent wouldn't work with and he wouldn't work in our team anyway, i don't think. We shouldn't go after him in January, though, definitely not. As has been said, cheap and cheerful will do me in January, and someone with a bit of presence in the box who can stick the thing in the net.
  20. Shearer would be a good assistant manager in my opinion.
  21. Dunn would be a majorly pointless signing. One, because we've got four centre-midfileders. Two, he's always injured. And three, he's not that good. Right up our street!
